A tatty photograph I discovered as a bookmark in the pages of a badly creased vintage Health and Efficiency magazine discovered under the mattress of a rundown nautical club hostel I happened to be staying in..I forgot my surroundings: a starch stained wispy curtain,a door without lock nor handle and slightly ajar;and ceased to hear the dripping tap and the snores of the occupant next door.I even forgot the musty smell pervading the room such was my interest in the photograph.It depicted a banquet.With increasing fascination I stared..Numerous persons were seated around a large round table,some with their backs to the viewer and a finger shrouded the top right hand corner.All seemed heedless of the photographer except one who stood in frozen animation hands stretched out as if telling some obscene joke.His face was both mischievous and open.Frozen laughter all around in appreciation of the storyteller.Little plaques were on the table with many great names of TW lore.

The tall speaker stood over the a plaque,unfortunately covered by what seemed like a large carved turd.Drinks and empty bowls cluttered the table in the smoky atmosphere.They had evidently just finished their deserts.Some chocolate ice-cream was untouched and seemed to exude a ripe effluvium if the faces of some of the revelers were to judged correctly.Others had the stuff smeared over their smiling and laughing mouths and seemed unperturbed.They had obviously glutted on the bounty.I flipped over the image and read "Rudigcus celebrates 65,000 mob" written in perfumed brown spidery scrawl that assailed the nostrils.
