When did this game stop being turf wars and being "look at all the pretty colored circles?"

I had gone in to semi-retirement due to boredom with the game. Then I got put in a tournament to see who could cap the most turf.
I forgot how much fun it is to cap players and expand!!!
I am careful to never cap a player out of an area...
Yet, at least once a day one of two things happens:
1 - a smaller player cries to me about taking a turf
2 - a larger player caps me and gives me a warning to lay off a certain city or player.
It seems to me this is no longer a game of turf wars but a game to fill the map with lots of pretty colors.
What's the big deal if you lose a turf or two as long as you aren't capped out of an area???

Meh ill quite happily cap turf off people, sometimes its just because im taking a shit and the forums are boring... I expect other people to cap me also 👊

Your right Matgie even I recently have succome to this as I recently told you to go easy on certain players. Which you did. I also was warned today by someone for taking turf last night. It is a dilemma. Oh and thanks for the loot!

Yes I hit someone who has a bigger friend! Geez even I loose turf to bigger players. I feel like I need to remove loot and get ready for WAR again.

Hmm...I think the tournaments are just an excuse to go cap crazy on certain people, Matgie just my thoughts.

Gman... I think tournaments have brought some fun back to the game. And, I can see where you are coming from, but me, personally, I would not "go crazy" on a single player and use the tournament as an excuse.
I also understand protecting alliance members.... But a couple turf taken is not a reason to go crying to your alliance. Try contacting the player yourself before crying and whining about it.
Cry and whine and I am likely to take more. Contact me and ask and I am likely to lay off.
As for mobbing up, there will always be players bigger than me.
