Turf Tales grows
What started as a one man show 6 weeks ago continues to grow.
Our most recent staffing announcement includes the appointment of ՏℒAͣ͜CͩҜͩℰℜ as copy editor. This move is intended to ensure greater consistency and polish of our upcoming issues. On another note, Turf Tales has now finalized a working relationship with Mystery – a contributing author of the Turf Wars Wiki site. All past and future issues will be linked to the Wiki site for easy reference. Link: http://turfwarswiki.com/index.php/Turf_Tales_News -
Popularity of Turf Tales continues to spread. This week the palringo room [Turf Tales News Room] hit 145 users, making it the third largest TW related Pal room. We are now setting our sights on surpassing the [TW Lounge] (170 users) and [TW Chat room] (164 users).
We continue to refine our internal processes to make the news more efficient and open to the community. Anyone is free to write and submit articles; however, all articles must fit the philosophy of the Turf Tale News. Without further ado, here is our philosophy: -
- First and foremost, the news is intended to be a celebration of the game. The news will always focus on achievements and positive events. Even when reporting controversial issues, the news will strive to identity the positive outcomes and lessons learned.
- Although all writers come from an alliance, the goal is to be neutral. We will always attempt to get multiple perspectives when investigating issues. If the news seems one sided, it is more than likely the result of one side refusing to comment.
- The news will only operate as long as the community continues to be as cooperative as they have been thus far. From this flows a very important principle – Trust. I will not blindside or write articles that are opposed by the players that the story covers.
-
- Finally, the news must maintain the level of quality that our readers have come to expect. This is something all our current writers and future writers should consider. Quality will always be a priority and I will not print anything that does not fit our current mould.
There you have it, the guiding principles: Positive, neutrality, trust and quality. One final note, this publication will never post anything that may jeopardize the accounts of our writers. For instance, I know there has been a desire to explore rumors regarding player account transactions. As history has shown, making accusations or assumptions on this topic can result in your own account being reset.
Thank you and enjoy the news!

Cover Story: Drama in the Turf Tales News Room.
A scheduled Q and A period with Turf War’s prima donna turned into mayhem after Belial failed to show. The planned discussion with Belial spontaneously turned into a live interview with Toughguy as Turfers looked to have their thirst for information quenched. TG has rocketed into the spot light in the last few weeks over a recent string of alliance movements which have been previously covered by the Turf Tales News.
The interview started with a series of basic entry level questions. Things took an extremely sharp turn when Parade of Chaos, a member of the Turf Wars Stars Alliance, began to question TG on his recent departure from the Stars.
-
POC: “What's it like being the first person ever being kicked out of stars? What are the chances you were just sent by Groucho as a mole to try and infiltrate our group? Some people had you pegged from day one”
The mood in the room changed. Attention turned to TG.
TG: “Lol really? I was never sent to be a mole. I'm a loyal player to the group that acts as my friends. G and I trully had a disagreement which led to my departure from TC. I trully thought I made friends in the stars and once I was getting cl'ed on daily and got no support - I questioned that. Sorry but IMO an alliance is 100% about their members.”
The heated exchanges continued, and pieces began to come together on the Stars / TG falling out. It appears that during the recent burning of Phoenix – a tournament being conducted by the Stars Alliance, TG capped 2 turfs off of a member of the Masshole Alliance, Everyone Else.
-
TG: “Yep I capped a messily two turfs of someone apparently I shouldn't have. Then got cl'd on 2 days in a row while a member of a major alliance. Got no support other then being told to take your licks. That to me doesn't define a true alliance”
TG claimed that he captured the turfs in order to move up, as he was over limit, to continue capping in the Phoenix area. EE answered the capping by sending a volley of carbombs to TG. Things only got heated from there.
POC: “You showed your true true colors TG when you chose not to swallow your pride and admit fault with the way you dealt with a situation. As a LEO, trained in conflict resolution, you of all people I would have thought would have sharper skills in that areas.”
-
TG: “I capped 2 turfs to move in AZ. Instantly got 16 car bombs on loot turf. That's excessive IMO so I capped the the last 4 he had in AZ. Action, reaction, action, reaction”
POC: “Hey i got some car bombs, let me cap a known Ally out of an area because I have a tiny penis and I always have to win. Carbombs have never removed a player from an area TG.”
TG: “As I see it it's def a difference of opinion. Nothing more. I've buried that hatchet poc”
Things seemed to swing back to questioning TG’s integrity given his string of alliance movements.
-
POC: “You can see why people would think different now that you are back with the flames tho? You hated them. You weren't gonna be told what to do...I'll be honest, you are a great fighter. We fought together a little when you joined pax. Not sure what happened with you and your game play. But something changed.”
TG: “May not have seen eye to eye with G but those guys I spent a year with. Made lots of friends with them. I've come to realize in alliance play the individual should just sit back and shut up. So that's what I'll do”
Details of the intense discussion spread. 19 players joined the room that night as Stars and Commission alliance members joined the room to watch. The new comers to the room began to voice their opinions on the matter.
-
Chuckdave: “Listen TG. I haven't said a word until just now and you know it. I was gone while the bulk of the altercation took place but came back while day after day everyone of our crew tried to reason with you that it needed to be let go and you decided to forgo that advice and do your own thing. That's not how our crew rolls and you knew that.”
Groucho: “Sounds to me like a lot of water under the bridge. ToughGuy is back home now, and we should all get back to being the same old happy allies we always have been. Lots of turds out there to still cap together. Ooh rah!”
TG: “Poc I cap turfs, that's what I do. Happen to take 2 off a cry baby and I pay the price apparently”
POC “Stop wasting your time with this guy Chuckdave, he is Groucho's problem, not ours”
-
Chuckdave: “I like you TG. Always have. I just think you were wrong on this one and could have dealt with it better that's all”
TG: “Poc it comes down to this, I capped EE out of about 6 countries and 3 states. Who cares? Was he a star? Nope not at all. So he got his just dessert from me which is how I've always played the game. I was a Star while I did those things”
POC: “That TG is exactly why you are no longer a star.”
While the news room continued to be active into the early hours of saturday morning, the TG / POC exchange began to fizzle out. Those present witnessed the airing of some deep seated disagreements between the two parties, which appear to be unresolved.
-
In an effort to hear yet another side to the story, Turf Tales news contacted Everyone Else for his opinion. EE, in his typical laid back attitude, explained his take on the situation “TG went off the reservation and capped 300-400 turf from me. I never retaliated at all and the only one I send after him was Viper since we were having lunch together at the time. What I really think is he was looking for a reason to blow shit up and used me as a catalyst. I really don’t think a few car bombs from an old friend is a reason to forsake an alliance that took you in. Either he never wanted to be a star or he has some serious anger management issues. Hell, I haven’t even punched codes in a year and have been off the map since may, how could it possibly be my fault?
Be sure to join the [Turf Tales News Room] and ensure you don’t miss any future developments!

Rudgicus: The full scoop of 💩
As revealed by Turf Tales News earlier this week, well know TWFC supporter Rudgicus has joined the Turf Wars Stars alliance. The news came as a shock to most as rud was one of the few pillars left of what was once the mighty Turf Wars Fight Club alliance. This is a Turf Tales News investigative report:
Rud started the game in May of 2011. Like most new players, rud describes his early days as confusing. “For the first 3 months I didn’t have a clue what I was doing”. Also like most players, it took an enemy and also a mentor for the game to catch his interest “I got picked on by a player called Duffy who relentlessly capped me around Bradford. I spoke with a huge 5k mobbed player called BFG who told me about mobbing. I started mobbing and continue to this day”.
-
Rud’s career started slowly like so many of us. Rud spent the first year solo. After sometime, he began to look to take the game to the next level. “I joined the Union with a player called Shaunturo. He thought it would be fun. There was no real fighting and I began to see it as more of a social group. They were constantly worried about upsetting other players, so I left”. Rud next turned his attention to joining a fighting alliance.
Rud’s search for a fighting alliance would find him joining one of the games oldest: Death Before Reset. His experience with DBR, however, would be short lived “I was with DBR for only a very short time. I didn’t have a clue how to fight and thought it wasn’t for me so I went solo again. I then made the stupid mistake of helping someone in a Vendetta against DBR”. Rud’s decision would end up being a turning point in his TW career “I thought because I was solo it would be fine joining a V against DBR. I was wrong and got an arse kicking. They were relentless”
-
DBR’s attack on Rud sent him into the arms of their greatest enemy, TWFC “After the relentless beating from DBR I made the decision to join TWFC”. It was love at first cap “At the beginning I saw how organized and well put together TWFC was. Muggers showed me how to do a tactical surprise on Blackpool and I cleared a lot of players by myself.... the adrenaline was pumping... I fookin loved it. That’s when I got hooked.”
-
As the slow decay of TWFC took hold, the group Rud once knew began to die. Ultimately, frustration won out “ I have bucket loads of respect to all the players who were part of twfc and to our allies but since the majority of players either reset, got banned ,gave up etc and no organisation ever really materialised...it was seriously frustrating so I made the decision to jump ship.” After making his decision, there was only one alliance for Rud “I like to have fun and have a laugh while fighting. CAPO always kept me entertained, but the STARS for me are the top of the tree. I’ve always had a soft spot for the STARS and I’ve wanted it for a while”.
As for fighting his former TWFC members an allies, Rud stated “tough one to answer. At this precise moment no. Thank you twfc for making me the player/fighter I am today, without you all I'd still be capo hunting (how dull)...have fun and see you all on the map”
-
Reactions on Rud’s decision to leave TWFC for the STARS was met with mixed feelings.
CroMag “It’s a total pile of 💩"
Shaggly Razors “Amazing the level of self preservation. Very few people have the courage to stand by their convictions as soon as they start losing turf.
S.I.N. “Takes real tenacity and commitment to fight WORLD alliances over long periods of time. Overwhelming odds and little or no reward. Rud did a great job as and ally and will be a respected adversary. Top acquisition for STARS”
FC St. Pauli “I wish him all the best and hope he finds what he is looking for: fun in this game”
The Other Guy “Wow. Shocked”
-
No matter what the thoughts of allies past, the STARS were ecstatic about Rud joining their ranks.
Bugs bunny "I guess poop has hit the fan? He's a great addition. Great humor. Takes things in stride. A good fit tbh"
Addi “Rud just fits with us...he always has. It just took awhile for it to come to fruition. We can't wait to work with him rather than against him on the map. It's going to be a great time like it always is with Rud, no matter the circumstances.”

An Alliance Come And Gone
This is a bit of TW history that may or may not matter, but I felt the story should be told. The Fold followed by The Fallen are 2 alliances that have come and gone. I will tell the history as I experienced it and give the most accurate account of the 2 alliances history I can. However small in TW history this is, it's a part of what makes up the web of crossed paths, friendships, and fights.
-
The Fold was the first alliance I was invited to join in Dec 2011. The Fold was originally a recruiting alliance for PAX in which there was a falling out between the 2 groups leadership. I do not know the details of the falling out as it happened before my time but that led to their separation. A very organized alliance led by Sir Sexy Bitx when I started and some others to follow. Dragon Tattoo being a founder was always involved in the alliance but RL pulled him away a lot. With boss rolls to control and divide the work load things ran smooth. Eventually boss and leaders lost touch with things and mutiny happened. I played my role in this falling out as well as tebo, opus, and belial. It was at this time The Fallen was created. I have nothing bad to say about The Fold, they taught me a great deal about the game and alliances, it just so happens that the one thing I think was missing was the glue. The glue is that thing that bonds an alliance be it war, location or any number of other things.
-
The Fallen was built on a new dynamic THERE IS NO LEADER. We were all equal and each voice counted as much as the next. All alliance paths were voted on and or debated. I have to say these were some of the most exciting and painful times in my TW career. The idea is good but to hold something like that together requires serious commitment to each other and patience. To get something done sometimes was like pulling teeth. There were obvious people that newer recruits or members looked up to but I feel a leaderless alliance is doomed. This is part of the reason I think I had to move on as well as others. It was one of the most emotional moments I have had on pal when things fell apart. We are all still friends and some still in alliances together.
-
I think some of the things we can take from the history of these 2 alliances are friendship, trial, error, and choices. No matter how hard you may try or others may try, the recipe for an alliance has to be just right or it will fail. Many try many fail, they make friends, they make choices all in all they give their best shot to leave their mark on TW history.
I personally owe both alliances and all involved a thank you. My personal trial and error has led to today and my current alliance. Without their existence and the people involved I would not be as M@D as I am. We each have a history that involves each other in the tangled web of stories. Oddly enough I bet most of you share the looks I get when you try to explain the game, let alone the way we have twisted it into a social experiment wrapped in a mafia theme to someone outside the game.

The Rumor Mill
The flame still burns
Established player Venom has apparently rejoined The Commission alliance and is now dawning the flame and cross hair tags. Venom also maintains the TX in his name, the symbols of the now defunct Texas Syndicate alliance. Commenting on Venom rejoining, Groucho said "you ain't seen nothing yet". Venom did not provide any comment to Turf Tales News.
Foot Soldier retiring (again?)
Foot Soldier (FS in game) sold all weapons earlier this week. The move prompted questions amongst the community if this signals yet another retirement from the willy vet. Inside sources indicated it is more likely a temporary break with a possible return in the near future.

Bomp joins the Madhitmen?
Eyebrows were raised last night when when rumors circulated around the turf tales news room that Bomp had joined the Madhitmen alliance. At the time of publication, confirmation of the rumor had not been recieved.
Funky Buffalo submits 〓CAPO〓 application.
After months of collecting the required signatures and references, Funky Buffalo has formerly submitted his request to join the 〓CAPO〓 alliance. Long time member and co-leader, Fachan, was quick to point out that although a great admirer and long time friend of Funky, the application was not submitted in triplicate; a standard submission requirement. In addition to Funkys problems with his TPS reports, this error seriously jeopardizes his chances for consideration.

Pal distribution rears it's ugly head
Rumors floated around the Turf Tales Office Friday morning regarding Palringo distribution. The rumors were sparked once again as it was confirmed by TW Support that there will be no temporary exemption on the post per minute rule for the publication. The editor in chief confirmed that "distribution will be evaluated on a week by week basis. Obviously my preference is to stay as a Forum based publication. All options will be explored, including shorter / punchier stories as well as a hybrid distribution including both pal and the forum. I understand the reasoning behind their decision, but it's a shame such a trivial rule can have such a frustrating impact on something the community appears to enjoy"
