Unbelievable. The worst part is the courts will force this young girl to relive these events over and over.

That's a pretty drastic response to being hit in the arm. Fuck police now a days.

I don't think the cop himself is bad. This is just a reflection of how poorly trained and uneducated a lot of them are.

Very sad. I'm afraid of police too. Miami police are so corrupt. Ive personally experienced it. Actually, Las Vegas cops are corrupt too, my own eyes have seen it. Maybe small town cops have better reputations, but power can corrupt anyone. Power goes to people's heads and they abuse it. I hear that police in England are widely considered to be good, helpful people. In America, I wouldn't ever initiate any interaction with a police officer unless they were talking to me already.
Just for perspective, I'm 28, I don't have any record at all and I'm in progress of obtaining a masters degree at a university. I really shouldn't feel this way about cops, but my experiences dictate that its appropriate. I'm also a gun owner, but sometimes wish that guns were illegal here and our police didn't need to carry them.

As far as the case refered to in the article, I hope the student wins.. Although it seems like she's already lost no matter the courts decision.

You're an educated gun owner but wish guns were illegal ? If you own a gun you should not be afraid of a damn thing. Just because you may not have a record doesn't mean you have never broken the law. All it means is that you have not been caught yet.Sounds like you're very fearful person. As far as the case refered to in the article, I hope the student wins.. Take something for your anxiety 😉. -

Fancy letter Smokey, No, I'm not a fearful person at all actually. Some people say I take too many unnecessary risks. True, I haven't been caught for any crimes I may have committed, but that's not the point, the point im trying to make is people have different perspectives on the subject of police once they have a record... You guys obviously fail to see that. My guess is that your blinded by your own political views on the topic. It's not like I carry a gun on me all the time. I have a shotgun and some rifles in my house, and they stay there unless I planned ahead of time to use them.
-
El chub, I'm not entirely sure why you think that's funny. Possibly you don't understand.. What I'm saying is that I wouldn't begin speaking unless the officer was prompting me to do so. So yes, without a prompt, I wouldn't initiate (begin, start) any interaction... I skipped using the word prompt because it may be too advanced, but that strategy seems to have failed.
I also don't understand why you'd state the obvious and say I don't have to own a gun. How would that change the fact that police carry them because we have them, and we have them because they're legal? How would not owning one change any variable in the point I made? Please, stop attempting to ridicule if you just don't understand.
Honestly, you guys must be cops, or you are so hyped up about your favorite political rhetorical that you just fail to make any points at all. Neither of you added anything to the conversation, which fits the title very well. This is very sad.
-
Ebenezer, what masters degree are you attempting? I think you might want to re-read your post. You wouldn't initiate 'unless' they were talking to you already ...... that is funny. Surely an educated man such as you can see this? You also seem a little concerned that guns are illegal yet you own some....if you are that concerned, perhaps begin by not owning any? Quite a simple concept.
-
Cops make mistakes. Proof? They're human. And from what I read I assume that the police aren't solely at fault too. Maybe the school system could have said or done something previous to the over reaction? What about the DA? I'm not entirely sure what exactly happened so I shouldn't be talking out of my ass.
-
Should the class teacher not shoulder a bit of blame here? Did no one mention anything? Quite a reaction from the police, and I'm at a loss why they were even involved.

That's what I'm saying, it should have been on her record that B.D. Had these problems. And addressing why the deputy was even there, I'm not sure. Just to try to clarify, interaction as I'm referring to it is between two people (cop and me). Each side can be considered to initiate their part of that interaction. Initiate refers to the first attempt at interaction in this case. I initiate our interaction when responding, it is my first (initial) attempt to interact, and it refers to my perspective. The cop also initiated our interaction by asking me something (prompt). There are two perspectives to an interaction, the term initiate can apply to either party's initial attempt to interact. It possibly would be less confusing had I not used it to refer to my perspective, but it isn't incorrect as I originally wrote it.
(Maybe you aren't laughing at it because you perceived it incorrect, if so, I am unfortunately a very serious person, and a lot of humor is completely lost on me, sorry.)
Anyway, this is quickly becoming tedious, so let's agree to disagree and move on, I'm sure we've better things to do.
