Adoption day!

About a year ago my wife and I took a brother and sister into our home. Finally, after an unexpected move out state, and having to get relicensed as foster and adoptive parents, today is adoption day.

The court hearing was brief, but emotional, and we had a good time after with family and friends celebrating at the local IHOP. (The kids picked the restaurant, not my first choice.)

Absolutely great for you and for them! We have family who are adopted. They are loved by all and are 100% family. now that they are grown it is great. Family parties are fun! 👍👍👍👍👦👱👴👵👨👶👩👧

Congratulations. My wife was adopted as a child. She has met her real mum and dad since and though she loves them she is grateful they gave her up as she would not have had the life she did if she stayed with them.

We exchange photos with their birth mother, right now she has serious substance abuse problems, so we don't allow visits. We pray she gets the help she needs so she can be part of the kids lives again. Their father is incarcerated and does not want anything to do with them. We hope that changes as well.

Congrats to you man. And my respect for you has grown exponentially. It takes a tremendous person to take on the kind of baggage that comes along with something like that. Good for you guys 👍

Our next challenge is buying a house. We found the one we want, it just seems every day the bank wants more documentation. We were hoping to close last week, then this week, today the bank asked for evidence the seller followed through on some minor repairs. Now, still hoping for this week, but next week is probably more realistic. I get it was too easy to buy a house for while there before the real estate collapse in '08, but this is crazy. It has been 5 weeks since our offer was accepted.

Congrats it takes a special couple to take in someone else's children and raise them as their own.
