Second night in a row that the summit of the Devil Mtn is bathed in an eery red glow. During the day today, I could see plumes of grey smoke coming from its upper reaches, reminiscent of a volcano. Although I know it is part of the natural cycle of life, I am still a bit saddened that the next time I return to it, I will find a blackened moonscape.

Sorry to bump my own post, but as an east bay cyclist, watching diablo burn is hard. My family and I have enjoyed a lot of good times riding there, both on and off road. Things are going to be different. That's for sure.
