OH MY GOD!!

Just watched a programme in channel 4 called blackout and was quite shocked in what would happen if the lights went out for a week. This got me and the missus talking about what would happen if the lights went out for good?
Discuss please, only responsible answers need apply.
Seeing as I'll start off, here we go:
as I'm ex army (trained in desert and urban warfare) the thing the 2 of us might do is get out of Manchester and go up towards her family in Leeds.......
What would you do? -
People with generators would be screwed that's for sure
-
lay low while the rest of you all kill each other. then come out and take all your stuff.
-
I'd have a big BBQ and invite all the neighbours around so I could show off all my good stuff to them.
-
😒 Responsible answers please lol
-
Well I can hunt (army training so I could get a few rabbits for the camping pot) and if anyone tries to go for me or the missus it'll be shoot first and ask questions later 😈

im serious. avoid others, avoid confrontation. after the herd is thinned you will be able to move around easier without detection and you can begin to scavenge what you need. although you do need to be prepared with some supplies to start with.

True, as much tinned produce and as much bottled water/juice as possible.
Then when it's gone quiet a bit, go out and forage around for more food and possibly go for fuel for the jerry cans

Yea living in cities would be Tough fighting for resources
I think I'll stick to the country and pool resources with friends and family be tough to go it alone -
We lost power for a week and half last year nothing happened . Sorry to burst your bubble.
-
Try to fix it? What would be the cause?

Yup. Those city dwellers relying on tinned corn and bottled water will be dead in a week. Country boys who know how to build a fire and boil their water will last indefinitely. :)Yea living in cities would be Tough fighting for resources

You should read One Second After. It takes a grim look at this situation from an EMP over the US. The author teaches college 15 miles from my house & it is based locally for me. It is an interesting read.

Isn't that show Revolution about a 15 year power outage? Go watch that.

Where I live, we're prone to blackouts. Most only last for a couple hours, but they have lasted for a few days in the past. We do canning of vegetables, fruits, and even certain meats throughout the year. We have a generator to run the pump for my well, and a few 5 gallon jerry cans of fuel at the ready. We also have a decent amount of wood for cooking fires. I also have 4 propane tanks for my grill. As for protection/hunting, I have several rifles and handguns with a decent stockpile of ammo. Once that runs out, I have a compound bow and a slew of arrows. I think we'd be ok here for a period of time.

i would use it as an excuse to go primal, caveman mode. kill, rape and steal. or just move to an area that had power.... yeah prob that. and defintely write some nasty letters to the gov for letting that shit happen.

I live in FL and power outages are nothing new. I was hit by 4 hurricanes in 2004. One them caused my area to loose power for 2 1/2 weeks. It was horrible. FEMA comdemmed my place and I lost everything. But I'm still here and have bounced back.

I'll be sitting back next to my fire eating deer while you city slickers freak out.
