Great to read the thread. Some obvious (but good choices), some funny, and some musicians I haven't heard of but now will check out. As a kid who grew up with rock, my 'life changer' was Miles Davis. I had a music teacher who introduced me to 'Kind of Blue' (had already sold about 6 trillion copies but I was oblivious) and all of a sudden a whole new world and possibilities opened up.
