I was figuring someone would say that. Lol. But I am looking into some ARs. For the second reason. Lol

Make sure you keep them locked up. Most gun murders are done with legally owned firearms by family members...
-
I know to keep em up. Ammo and weapon seperate and each locked.
-
Since when are you old enough to buy a gun?
-
Since my uncle is buying it for me...? Are you my mom or something?

This is either a recipe for disaster or you are literally trying to reach out to someone for help.Parents are divorcing violently and I just got my hunting liscense!

If at all possible, you need to seek help or someone needs to get you some.

The silly rhetorical question needs no response. Your answer...I'll try to refrain from commenting to keep the thread from going off track.Since my uncle is buying it for me...? Are you my mom or something?

Thanks mystery. And Mason, you saying that actually made me get sorta teary eyed.

All I am saying is...just be careful. Thanks mystery. And Mason, you saying that actually made me get sorta teary eyed.
I'm a competitive shooter and its one of the few things that truly clears my head. However, weapons and emotions do not always go well hand-in-hand.
-
I love shooting. And ya, when I do I clear my mind. I kinda have to to try and focus on my target. And I think that all I really need is to clear my mind for a while.
-
As Mason said, be careful and keep emotions separated with the guns part.
My parents divorced when I was 6. My father beat my wife. It's a hard thing to witness no matter your age. Keep your chin up, kid and learn from your parents mistakes.

If my father hit my wife if have him jailed...
-
Yeah my bad. Father beat my mom.

Hey red ... Everyone knows this is just a game tw that is and at times it's a good RL outlet. Sorry your in the middle of your parents troubles. I know it's hard to do but at some point you just have to say "none of this is my fault or doing". Sad to say this is sometimes the dark side of Relationships and those around them are deeply affected. Be careful with those guns and may be use that hunting permit to bag a trophy with your uncle. He may be your outlet you seek. Good luck budThanks mystery. And Mason, you saying that actually made me get sorta teary eyed.

Not that that is acceptable either, it's just hard for a 6 year old to do anything...Yeah my bad. Father beat my mom.

shooting a gun to clear your head... doing something bad or violent to make yourself feel better... could be some negative reinforcement issue here and could go south.... i would prob refrain from shooting for a while... i know outlets are needed but be mindful of the ones you pick and keeping your uncle involved is a great idea. positive influences to help build you up and keep you strong regardless of the outlet is wise. i know it's hard to seperate yourself from the situation emotionally because you are so close to it but if a disconnect is possible, a focus on other family, friends or school, sports(if thats your thing) might be good.
-
I am always playing sports and since the news got out that they were splitting a week ago, I haven't stayed a single night in that house.
-
I've always been at a friends and never home during the day.
-
I enjoy shooting and often go out to the range for a few hours to clear my mind. Good, accurate shooting requires a tremendous amount of self control and discipline. Those traits can and should carry over into the areas of your life.
I'm curious about your choice of platform, what do you plan on hunting?
-
I've always wanted to try boar hunting, but mainly deer. Ill be using a rifle or shotgun to do so.
-
I think for both deer and boar I'd use a heavier round than the typical .223/5.56 in most AR's. I know some states, including my own allow .223 for deer, but I feel heavier rounds are better for deer. I've never hunted boar, but everybody talks about how tuff they are, again I think a larger round would provide better results.
For deer I use a .270. I've always wanted to hunt boar with a handgun and have 1911 in .45 that I think will work nicely. Either way, enjoy yourself and be safe.
