Pete Rose is right

He says that Ichiro Suzuki's 4000 hits really are not the same as Rose's hits because Ichiro has 2700 here and the rest in Japan. I agree, while Ichiro is a remarkable player, it isn't the same. Thoughts?

If it isn't as impressive, it's a very minor difference to me. 4,000 hits is an impressive achievement.

I'm with you Cyrus

4000 hits is 4000 hits, regardless of the country. Either way, it's a hell of an achievement.

Rose is just a bitter old man

Even with what Ichiro has done in the majors u can count his hits from the Japanese league, for one simple reason, the Japanese league is inferior to the majors. Lesser pitchers and lesser fielders. If u count his hits in Japan then you would have to count minor league hits, AAA hits, where does it stop.
P.S. let Pete Rose into the HOF!!! -
If Ichiro's Japanese hits count, other players should be able to count their minor league hits, then what? College hits, legion hits, little league hits, church league softball hits? Heck let's count all time he punched the monkey too.
Hits in MLB should only count as hits in MLB, not other leagues. I don't know enough about the quality of Japanese pitchers or fielders to judge how they match up against MLB players, but I suspect if they all as good as MLB players many more would get big contracts to lure them here. The low number of Japanese players being offered those contracts leads me to believe the quality of play in Japan is not on par with MLB.
There are many more MLB players from Latin America than Japan. Do the hits they accumulated in their Home Counties count toward their MLB total? If not, why not?

I agree with Cyrus. The record should only be counted in the same league.

It's like playing an FPS game against noobs and saying you're an awesome player. Then you play against an MLG player and it's a whole different story. -

Exactly. And put Pete Rose into the HOF already! If u want to count his hits in Japan, he must give back his rookie of the year since he already had 1200+ hits before his rookie year lol.
