The AP is reporting that 19 USFS Hot Shots lost their lives on a fire outside of Prescott AZ. Please keep their families in your prayers. Rest in peace brothers.

Very tragic. Active forest management is such an obvious answer. All the resource family - USDA, BLM, DOI, USFS, NPS, NFS - pray for the families.

Now being reported that it was the Granite Mointain crew, not a USFS crew but members of the Prescott FD. One of the only city based Hot Shot crews in the nation.

It's reported that they had to deploy their shelters, never a good thing for a wildfire crew.

This is so tragic. Last I heard about 12 hours ago was that there was one survivor. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the family and friends of this heroic group of hot shots.
