My retainers are killing the back of my throat and my tounge (did I even spell that right?!). Any suggestions?

Cap everyone nearby then reset.

Advise your parents of the issue so they can schedule an appt with your dentist so he can adjust your retainer.

The bottom retainer takes some getting used to. My tongue was raw from messing with it, for the first week.

Go to the dentist and ask him to remove all your teeth. Then you will no longer have to wear a retainer! Then reset.

Invisaline is what I am using. What kind if retainer did you get? Sounds like the old-school kind that has plastic against your palate with ortho-wire around your teeth.
Is this correct?
There are types that are like the Invisaline where it's clear and touches only your teeth.
You could also try orth-wax if its an abrasion issue.

I just got retainers a few months back and had no problems, and I had the old fashioned kind. I assume that any rubbing (other than a tad but I uncomfortableness) should not happen. Just tell them it's REALLLLY painful or something.

I've lost 4 retainers its pain in the neck finding them

Advise your parents to cap the dentist, then reset. It is very important that you reset.

Motrin.

How do you keep your pants up with no braces? I don't imagine retainers will help much with this.

Wear the retainer and try not to lose it. (Trust me, more difficult than you think)
I've had mine off for years, but I still have my bottom retainer in place which is a good thing cause I chipped a tooth this weekend, and the dentist used it to help support the resin replacement for what got removed. -
And it does take a little time to get used to. Give it a week or so.

I have the same retainer, so I know exactly what you're talking about. It's going to feel uncomfortable for the first few days, but as time passes you'll notice it less and less, just like braces. The pain is very temporary, it comes an goes as your teeth try to move but can't, which is good. Try your hardest not to fiddle with it with your tongue or anything, because they break easier than you think. If something feels out of place, tell your parents to get an appointment. With the invisaline, there shouldn't be any jabbing, poking or pinching. And whatever you do, do not take out the retainer out of frustration! If you don't wear that retainer, you will have to get braces again, just like I did. Hope this helps!
