White Tiger

My wife is 34 weeks preggo, 3 weeks away from being full-turm. This is my first child I get to see be born and I'm a little nervous as to what to do in the delivery room. Last night, I placed my hand on her stomach and my daughter was moving a lot. It freaked me out because I thought she was trying to come out lol. Any advice? I know there are dads on TW.
P.S.
Shortly after, I had a dream about a friendly white tiger. -
It's the best thing in life enjoy it then its up all night feeding comforting ur baby lol I had my iPod pumping tunes when me last was born lol

It's the most amazing expirence you will ever have. It's truely life changing. Just be there to support your wife. Remember that she is the one doing the work. Don't get hung up on a camera, texting or making phone calls. Stay focused on your wife & the expirence. Plenty of time for the other stuff later. Just try to relax & let nature happen.

Do everything in that delivery room to stay calm and make her comfortable. She may turn into a raging, possessed bitch for a few hours, but know that she loves you, she may be in a great deal of pain and she just needs your full attention and compassion.

If you need specifics, I'm talkin' ice chips, pillow fluffing, foot rub & lower back rub duty. See if she wants music, something good on the delivery room tv. I watched Shrek 3 and part 3 of something else while I was in labor (I forget, but something terrible). I decided that next time I'm in that situation, I want I Love You, Man to be a strict part of my birthing plan to take my mind off the pain. She may just need you to hold her hand, say nice things, tell her she's beautiful & pet her head. Just really be there for her.

Very good advice being given here.
The first song we heard after our first child was born was Don Henley's End of the innocence.
Brings me a great deal of happiness each time I hear that song.

Don't believe anything she says or does in there is personal.... Mine said "1 is enough", "Never again", "You can quote me". Then 2 weeks later it's all we really should have another one. I swear I'm like WTF.....
With the second, she started punching me so I could experience the pain she was in. It was less pain than I thought, and hurt more when she was squeezing my hand... 😜

It's a life changer, that's for sure. I'd give you advice, but it's all been said in this thread. It's an amazing experience, but don't get hung up on the actual birth. It kinda looks like a wet St. Bernard trying to squeeze through a cat door.

And get ready to fall apart when you hold the baby for the first time. Any man that says they didn't with the first is a liar lol

My best friend was at sea when his son was born. I went to see his fiancé and take her her overnight bag in hospital. He told me later that when he received the call, he ran around the ship for half an hour, then sat down and cried.
He didn't meet his son for two weeks.

That's a sad story turfa I feel for him. But it is true, I was doing a great job of being a bloke until the nurse gave me my daughter and said "I think this belongs to you" and she looked at me. Commence falling apart, and be warned that's when everybody wants to try and speak to you lol

My daughter had a bit of issue breathing. The time I spent holding her was as I was carrying her to NICU. I can even begin to tell you how scared I was. Broke down and bawled my eyes out for a good 45 minutes when the nurse took her from me.

Have a seat very close by. Once the head starts coming you may get dizzy. Most important thing is ask the doc to put in a extra stitch or two afterwards. Congrats!

Well said mate! Between this and Bella and 4nick8r I have nothing else to contribute. Being a daddy is the best thing. Just cherish your kid and remember you have a tremendous responsibility now. Enjoy it! Being a parent is a beautiful thing! Your child will fully love and trust you and it's a wonderful feeling. Thanks for all the advice guys, I really appreciate. I was deployed the entire pregnancy with my first daughter and didn't see her until she was 3 months old. Now, I've experienced the emotional roller coaster, cravings, numerous test and doctor visits, arguments over the name etc lol. All for a little girl that will be her in a couple weeks. Man I just hope I don't pass out when I see her come out lol.
