RC Heli's, anyone?
Forums › General Discussion › RC Heli's, anyone?-
In my post tw domination past time (hehehe) I've taken up rc helis and I'm really enjoying. I've got a blade msr, msrx and 120sr along with a dx6i controller. Getting better and better at it. Living on the coast it's always breezy so flying is a challenge but rewarding.
Anyone else into rc helis?

I guess they are micro and sub micro heli's I think. the msr and msrx are about 9 inches long and the 120sr is about a foot and a half.

Yeah I'd never be able to follow you at this point in my skill level lol. I'd crash it into you. That would make for a cool vid tho! hehe

I have an mcx2, but would like to move up to the 120sr, lots of fun. My brother flies the larger gas powered models , and is quite good, then again he is a heli maintenance engineer.

I really like the 120sr but my fav is the msrx...it's so maneuverable yet easy to fly even in a light breeze!

I have a Blade 120SR, SR, Nano CPX and the new Nano QX on order. I'm using the Spektrum DX6i transmitter.
I also have a couple of quadcopters and a tricopter. The tricopter is my favorite RC toy!
-
Not sure if it counts, but I had an AR Drone, that was fun
-
I also have a dx6i (3 so far on this thread!). Been meaning to try a heli but so far just RC planes for me. Admittedly, I'm not a very good pilot yet so I've had to make quite a few styrofoam repairs. 😳 Only one of my planes is operational right now. It's a twin engine dehaviland mosquito.
Any of u dx6i owners using any flight simulation software with it for training? Any recommendations as to which sim is the best? Cheaper to crash a sim than a real plane. Lol

Yeah I have a Protocol Acelerator 24 inches long. Pretty good but battery life is short :(

I really fkn want this, I just bought a gopro and I feel incomplete without this quad. -
Blade 120 SR too. Seems to be a popular entry level bird.
-
Tamiya and HPI rc cars for me. I tried flying my bros heli but it's hard and crashing is expensive . I like the simulator tho. I really want a black bird RC and a Quad copter
-
Thought about it, but no. I do a little RC plane flying though, and I'm working on converting a REVELL scale model 1:72 Type VIIC u-boat into an RC with functioning ballast tanks. But most of my time and money goes into other hobbies like airsofting etc, so it's kind of limited. Would be awesome to make an airsoft version of the quad copter like they make in COD (not trying to be a cod freak, but it's the best comparison I can make).

kt - cool ! Yes I would also like to know about the sim software. I keep reading about it on forums like helifreak etc but have found no other info

The Blade Nano CPX is great way to transition to flybarless helis. It weight about an ounce and can really take a beating. Just don't try anything too crazy while you're learning and it will provide many good times!
I haven't received my Blade Nano QX yet so I can't really describe how much I like it. I have seen a couple of YouTube videos and I'm sure I will enjoy it very much. I will post here when it arrives, hopefully next week.

Cool thanks. I can't say enough good things about the msrx. it's flybarless with the blade stabilization system and it's just plain awesome. I'll check out some vids on the nano cpx.
I'm a little disappointed with the 120sr though. I liked it at first but it's just nearly as fun to fly as the msrx outside and it breaks real easy. been through a few landing gear and tail motors already.
It's nice that there are so many resources for dx6i settings for these birds too!

I like sticking to the ground but I do have a Double Horse Volitation or something like that because our local hobby store had it for like $50. Not that good with it but I like the little Traxxas Qr-1 that little thing is awesome.

It looks fun, but 10-15 minutes of flight time? I'd rather have a nitro-power dune buggy or something along those lines personallyhttp://www.dji-innovations.com/product/phantom/

So I paid a visit to my local hobby shop today... I picked up one of those new blade nano QX quadcopters. It's my first heli. Super easy to fly, and owing to its ultralight weight, it doesn't crash hard. Should've got an extra battery while I was there however, as it goes thru a full charge very quickly. I also picked up the Phoenix flight simulator. It's AWESOME! It comes with a USB adapter that plugs directly into my dx6i trainer port, and the realism is incredible. Totally worth the $130 investment. Played for a couple hours and I already feel WAY more confident in my flying skills. Give it a shot and let me know what you think! 👍

Idk what kind we have, but I SUCK at it. It's kinda cool that we control it from an app on my phone, though.

Works some kinda colored mouth if my memory serves me, wich it dosent, makes me get up and walk to the fridge for my own food...
Limited range, great for indoors though, very easy to control -
Not so much a heli but an AR drone. I have great craic with it herding my kids up at dinner time and spying on the wife in the bath👍🍀
