Do you try to make American accents like we try to do British accents?
always wondered that....

Which American accent? Lol just about each state has it's own accent

It's kind of weird cause I live in Texas and the south is know for their accent. But the weird thing is that I don't think I have and accent. Only if there was a way to prove if I have an accent or not...😕

Of course, at least 70% of the conversations my buddies and I have, are done with a variety of North American accents. 👍

I have a lot of English friends, and when they try to impersonate Americans, they generally use a southern accent.

Whenever i talk to people on like teamspeak or any other chat program, and they dont know im belgian, they always wonder where im from, as i use à lot of amurikan/Brit words and accents, sometimes i might even slip some scottish words in there just to play with them.
Some people even thought that i was an aussie because of my pronounciation of certain words.
I think it must be the years of experience talking to people from around the world 😇

I'd like to hear a Brit mimic my accent.

the Scots in my area really aren't bothered with impersonating americans. We impersonate the Irish

Can you Americans tell the difference in brit accents, like scouse (Liverpool), cockney(London), Geordie(north east) etc?

My 'every day' accent is quite heavily Geordie, when I was in the US I was often asked if I was German!! 😳 If we don't all talk with a Hugh Grant accent a lot of Americans don't believe we are Brits. That's not true. We might not be able to decipher where exactly you're from, but we basically can always tell you're from the UK.ad_BL6 wrote:

I hear different British accents, but I can't identify the regions. Then again, most people can't identify regions in the US either, as there are many different accents here.

It's weird how diverse the UK accents are,you can literally travel 20-30 miles out of your area and there's a different accent....amazing to say how small our little island is. I've been told I have quite a broad Yorkshire accent which means we are lazy in the fact we miss words out of sentences as in "Im off t'pub".
Sexiest accent on a woman for me is Geordie....beautiful and worst is scouse (apologies to the scousers) -

It is hard to tell if you have an accent compared to the people around you. Whenever I ask my friends if I have an accent, they say no but if I ask a friend who lives halfway around the world if I have an accent, their answer is a definite 'yes'! It's all about what accent you're comparing your own to.It's kind of weird cause I live in Texas and the south is know for their accent. But the weird thing is that I don't think I have and accent. Wife is from midland tx and she definitely has an accent. Her sister married a Brit and lived in England for 8 years or so and developed a British accent that you could still hear Texas in. Very odd. Even more odd was going to a Chinese buffet in midland once and hearing a Chinese lady with english definitely a second language speaking with a slight drawl as she said 'how y'all doin today?'
I grew up in Mn so lost my birthright Kansas accent very early on. Currently we live part time in the Appalachian mountains...now there is an accent you have to replay in your mind a few times when listening to conversations :)

As a Texan, the accent that we used to have is disappearing due to all the yankees and northerners moving down here. Please stay where you are.
