Mechanical pencil user 😳
Forums › General Discussion › Mechanical pencil user 😳-
So everyone I know ridicules me for using a mechanical pencil despite the fact I'm no longer in school. Is it such a relic? There's got to be other mechanical pencil users that don't feel shame in coming out of the lead closet.
Someone? Please?

I love mechanical pencils in my hand. Don't have to worry about all that tedious and messy sharpening. :)

Huh?
Wow forums have gotten dry.
Next up, paper or plastic. What's ur choice in bagging material?
-
I just like pulling as much lead out then breaking it, people actually write with those things? Sharpening a pencil is the best part!

True. I think people freak out from just writing these days, let alone with a pencil (of any kind)I just like pulling as much lead out then breaking it, people actually write with those things? Sharpening a pencil is the best part!

I'm pretty sure no pencil uses lead anymore, at least that's what the doctor told me when I got stabbed with a pencil.
-
😂 OMG how old are you?!? Do you use an abacus too???? 😂😂😂😂😂 this made my day.

They're called lead pencils though they don't contain any actual lead in them, but graphite powder. Brits called graphite lead because they thought that's what it was when they first discovered it.★MΛΥΗΞΜ★ wrote:

I realize it's kind of a Luddite thing, though I'm a techie by trade/nature. Well, if you don't count the candles, the library card, and belief that most TV is for mind-controlled sheep.

I love my pilot, used it for years

Mechanical designer/programmer by trade... I have more mech pencils than I do PC games (thats saying something). Actually started collecting some of the mid-higher end pen/pencil sets a few years back. If someone wants to call you old just remind them fountain pens are by FAR the most pleasant to write with. You'll be shocked how many blank stares you'll get in return.
-
I actually prefer drawing and sketching with mech pencils.

Love my mech pencils, have used the same brand as I used since university. Have a sharpening drum for the lead too. Like Viper, I've collected a few set. Always been fond of fountain pens too. My favorite to use now are Sailor, although I did get my gal a rather nice Waterman.

As a specialty trim carpenter, I can tell you that nothing beats a good sharp #2!! But for writing and drawing a mechanical pencil is top key.

I used them in school, they were the business. We called them pacers, a brand name I think.

Note for the under 17 set: fountain pens don't contain any actual water.

Things I've learned... Some of my favorite ppl in this game are closet mech pencil users. Thank you for the renewed faith in (Luddite) humanity lol
