Yep, that's right. One day in the near future, it'll be phone down (and gun up) for this little Aussie duo.

I've passed the first couple of tests, and am awaiting a call for the interview with a senior officer, then it'll be off to basic training and army life for the next four years.

As some of you may remember, I've had some serious issues recently with money - namely trying to keep my house and pay the bills. It took a lot of discussion and more than a few arguments with my fiancé, but the lifestyle and financial benefits of gaining a trade qualification through the army seemed too great to miss. So, wish me luck my good friends, I'm going to go shoot some shit!

Good luck! Where do the Aussies get deployed?! Also when you get back you could join a police force, they look for a lot of ex military guys, or at least in the US

Australian troops are in Afghanistan and in a lot of South Pacific areas, Solomon Islands for example. Some are also deployed to East Timor. Good luck turfa.

Best thing my mate ever did. Went from private to officer in 4 years now he's a captain and commanding officer of his own army music band. He loves it in the army but be prepared for a culture shock. He also got done AWOL when he screwed up some appointments and went to one location instead of where he was meant to be.

Good luck mate, and choose your trade wisely. There's more to learn than just shooting shit up.

Oh and Mr Buttwipe, Aussies are deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq, Timor, Solomon Islands as well as exchange programs with allied nations. Depending upon the role you take depends upon how close to the front line you get.
