Hi, I'm a bricklayer by trade but with the economy being the way it is I have no work. I'm thinking of changing career and was wondering if anyone had any advice on learning methods for C++ or other languages. Thanks in advance.

My advice learn as many as you can. A+ c++ python and Delphi , and starting on php has only taken me 7 months. It easy to learn just takes patience and will power

Once you learn one, the others are really similar. Grab a book and start reading!

C# .Net or Java are the highest paying development jobs with less outsourced jobs.

If that ain't the truth, but alot of companies are starting to look for COBOL, SQL, PERL, and other older language programmers with knowledge of newer languages to help with system conversions. Personally I'd stick with web programming as that is the way things are moving. Backbone programming generally is in place and only needs occasional maintainence. Web development is always evolving.

I take computer science at school as one of my gcses and its pretty tough but also very interesting. I learn JavaScript, Python and small basic.
