Haven't tried it myself but have heard you're better off with an actual GPS unit to find the items as opposed to using the map app.davey da kidd wrote:

Very true. Actual gps units can get you within a metre or two of your target. Iphone apps can only get you within 5-10 metres. Thats a huge difference when you're looking for something the size of a margarine container in the middle of the forest.☣Յⅈ☢Ϧⱥʑǻཞđ☣ wrote:

Can be much smaller than a margarine container.༺☠Ꮹཞ༏ཀཀ☠༻ wrote:

the gps units are great, and if you are going to use it then it's a worthy investment. Hours of fun, and gives a purpose to the walks. Also discourages you from fiddling on your phone

I just got a cheap or free one on my iPhone and let the kids runs with it, I help them with directional issues once in a while
-
It's the intro one for free
-
Sometimes they r small , but being within meters of it is where the parent gets to help the kids, but it can b frustrating but we've always found it.
As I say we're not serious -
Wife got the app going haha looks like I'm going hiking again 😁

It's a great way to get out of your home and do something active. Love the idea. Yet to do it but it sure sounds fun.

Used to do it all the time. Fantastic way to find new mini-adventures.

Ya beware the black magnet micro caches that are stuck to black metal fences lol oh and the ones that are stuck in a hollowed out stick and placed at the bottom of a bush to blend in with the rest of the bush 👍😎that one was the most creative I've ever found but very fun with the kids 👍
-
Great app I used to use it with my family a couple years ago but that was before I got busy!
-
Yeah I'd always leave my stuff in the middle of a poison oak patch. Weeds out the amateurs...
-
People like u r the reason I watch where my kids r running to
-
I went geo catching ... We found thing but the other thing wasn't there , it was fun though

I saw a couple really interesting urban caches actually. One was a hollowed out rusty bolt stuck near the base of a stoplight. Another was a small grey box sitting with electrical boxes on the back of a building. I used to geocache a lot before my knee surgery.Ya beware the black magnet micro caches that are stuck to black metal fences lol oh and the ones that are stuck in a hollowed out stick and placed at the bottom of a bush to blend in with the rest of the bush 👍😎that one was the most creative I've ever found but very fun with the kids 👍

Found a 2003 special edition playboy magizine.
My mom took it from me before I could open it 😔 -
Well that was fun and the kids didnt even know we walked about 5 miles .... Oh fyi the apple maps put us right up on the items just by entering the L & L
-
Some of the items found where very very small
-
What's cool is the wooden cache coins 👍😎
-
Yeah, I'd recommend an actual GPS for this one. Even with those, they're not always exactly 100% accurate, so a search is usually required around the general area.
-
Geocaching app works fine.

Yup. I love the elaborate ones, like ones in lakes that are at the botom attatched to a rope and you have to grab the bobber and pull it up. Lots of cool ones out there👍👍
