Chicago has some great architectural tours available. Options by walking, Segway, and boat are all very cool and the history of buildings post the great fire is great.
There is also a nice walking tour of the river and bridges with some historical bits including the greatest loss of life in a fresh water ship accident.
Lincoln Park Zoo is free and is net to a free conservatory where some plants date back over 100 years. Both can be covered in a half day.
The Museum of Science and Industry is one of my favorites and the German submarine U505 is a fantastic exhibit there along with lots of other great displays.
Be ready for expensive parking fees even at most hotels you are already paying for a room or dinner. Traffic can be bad especially for a Cubs game but still tends to not be as bad as LA or NYC.

Come here in lake county i'll show you wide farms. Brings you back to the mother nature.

Lake County, Indiana that borders Chicago or Lake County, Illinois that is about 15 north of Chicago? Both have farms.Come here in lake county i'll show you wide farms. Brings you back to the mother nature.
Lake County, Illinois has Six Flags Great America and water park. Also some great fishing and horseback riding.

I recommend the architectural tour on the Chicago river. You take a guided tour of all the buildings in the city on a boat through downtown Chicago. It's definently worth it.

Have a meal on the 95th. It's the 95th floor of the John Hancock. It's a bit pricy, so it'd be better for a fancy meal if you want one. Otherwise, Id recommend Lou Malnatis (Deep Dish) or the Grand Lux is great food and at a fair price. If you can, enjoy the beach, or check out Navy Pier (and Bubba Gumps haha).

And something that's kind of cool and fun, is "The Gangster Bus." There's two older guys that take you on a tour of the city where famous Chicago mafia events took place, and they're pretty funny. Only a couple hours long (I think it's 2 but I forget), so yeah. Enjoy!

It's a short drive and worth it.

I was a part of a display there a few years ago. It was something I'll never forget.

Giodano's pizza is a must and if you like Italian, the Rosebud downtown is very good. Really like the tours but you will have just as good of time on the pier. Have fun and enjoy

Rosebud isn't even in top 50 restaurants in Chicago. Solid for lunch.
If you have fun at navy pier I prob think you're a loser.
