Is the writing essay portion of the ACT worth it?
Forums › General Discussion › Is the writing essay portion of the ACT worth it?-
I was thinking about taking this portion of the ACT but the deadline passed before I came up with my decision. There is going to be another opportunity to take it later on but I wanted to hear from everyone else on what your thoughts are on the essay portion. Is it worth it? I know that some colleges require it but then again, some don't.

Not in my opinion.

Do it at least once if you're good at writing. It'd only help. If not, then you might want to pass. Some colleges require it though, so...I say do it just in case.

Agreed. Also, the date of this question makes me concerned for you. Are you a junior or senior. Some Universities require you to take that.
If you are planning on going in to communications, broadcasting, journalism, or teaching its a good idea to do it even if its not required.
If you answered NO to the above reasons then skip it and save the money.

Just take it! It's better to get it over with instead of having to go back and do it another time. Besides, most collages do require you to take it anyways.
