It's that lil'Byrdie, please help me get back on my ryd!!
Okay, so I did my head job, yay no more oil leaks!!
My carb busted. I bought a '98 katana carb the manifolds airbox and petcock. The petcock was clogged so I'm using my '97 petcock with a T in the fuel line.
She was running better than before, then a gas leak. I put hose clamps on every single fuel line connection. I think I flooded her, cuz she wouldn't start. Today, she started right up... BUT she back-fire constantly at an inconsistent rate. What can cause this? Do you need more info to help me trouble shoot? Mahalo Nui Loa!! ❇❤ℒ💖ℬ❤❇ -
Make sure the carb is 100% fine.

It could be an exhaust leak resulting in decreased back pressure or it could be running too lean. Assuming no exhaust leak, adjust the mixture screws on the carb 1/4 turn at a time to clear up the problem - don't turn the mixture screws more than 1 & 1/2 - jet change may be required after that.

* I meant too rich not lean

Okay, got it, I'll go try... Mahalo😘

A girl working on motorcycles😍! Send me pictures on pal please😝

Other than the flooding, carbs could need to be sync'd.
Can DIY with the right stuff. (Google a homemade carb sync tool, will save ya some dough)

You might want to check the piston return spring. It might be worn out. That or you need new muffler bearings.

Oh my goodness, I need new spark plugs already?!?! Okay so how often should I be changing out the plugs?

Thank you all so very much for your help!! I am learning as I go, so I didn't know where to start trouble shooting. I did dogpile it first, but honestly I got completely lost!
