Other than TW...
got three (first two will date me):
1) 1975 - Combat on CDC mainframes (mecc?). Space battle game using ttys...epic battles all night long in real time...no graphics back then.
2) 1980s - midimaze (original name was 'shoot the smiley faces' but they decided that would sell as well). Wander around in mazes fighting other, well, floating smiling faces either one on one, one vs many, or in teams. 3d graphics. Nothing like 20 people coming over to your house and stringing midi cables throughout and playing until your wife kicks everyone out about 4AM :).
3) 1990s - doom and it's hacks (fav was the Monty python hack)

Barren Realms Elite.
Trade Wars.
LotRD.How things come around...I haven't had a game remind me of the old BBS games (above) until I found this one.
BRE and Trade Wars were the closest thing we had to GPS games back in the 80s, because we were all dialing in to local area BBs's together, and the BBS's would then fight each other city to city over FidoNET. Not GPS, but still territorial based competition. My BBS in Baltimore used to own the whole mid atlantic in BRE.
