Any smokers???

Anyone try the whole hypnosis to quit smoking? My wife talked me into going and trying it out. I went last week, and had 0 luck. For the $60 it cost, I feel like it was a waste of time. I'm curious is there is anyone who has tried it & been successful.

I did see there is private sessions, but this was a seminar held at a conference center within a hotel. They tried to make it completely quite, but it was difficult for them to do so with neighboring conference rooms.

I tried chantax, but it made my cigarettes taste like shit, and it gave me weird dreams.

If you want to stop smoking, stop smoking... Its just hard when you think its going to be hard... Its all in your mind...

Chick asked me once if I smoked after sex, I'm like "Hell if I know, I never looked down." ✊

You don't? That's where the magic happens. And of course you need to check, if you smoke after sex, you're doing it too fast. 👊Chick asked me once if I smoked after sex, I'm like "Hell if I know, I never looked down." ✊

So much ignorance in this statement. If you truly believe this, then you have never been addicted to cigarettes. It's not "all in your mind" when your body is physically addicted to a chemical.

I just quit cold turkey

Demario my grandma quit smoking cigarettes using hypnosis in 1996 and hasn't picked up a cig since. So it does work. However my uncle tried it and had no success. But I don't believe he really wants to quit so that may have had something to do with it. My grandma told me you have to really be ready to quit and really want to. Commit yourself. She also did it in the hypnotists office in a quiet environment. I think that definitely has something to do with it. Good luck. I quit a few years ago and had a hard time. But am glad I did I feel a million times better for it now.

I'm using an E-cig now. So far so good. I've been gradually lowering the dosage of nicotine as I go along.

I have tried almost everything to quit smoking! Only thing that worked was cold turkey. after the first week it gets easier.
-
i think grimms right. you have to be ready or it wont work. i quit a few times and always went back cause i liked it. the last time i was totally sick of it. been 4 years. personally i used the "eat whatever the hell i want" approach. gained 35 pounds. after about 8 months i started excercising and eating better. lost the weight and another 15 too. if your ready it will be easier but its still a battle i think. good luck!

I succusfully quit smoking about 12 years ago. It is difficult. I tried several times before I was successful. I tried the patch, and gum, neither helped me. When I finally was successful, I went cold turkey, but I had to give up coffee and alcohol as well, because they were both powerful triggers. After about three weeks it got easier and I began to drink coffee again. It was a couple months before I could drink alcohol without terrible cravings.
Stick with it. It is worth it. Life is much better without cigarettes.

I quit smoking with the patch. I was a miserable prick, but it worked. Now I smoke cigars LOLOL

I quit several times with no success until I replaced the craving. On advice, I stuck a werther's in my mouth everytime I wanted a cig. After about 3-4 weeks I was sick of butterscotch and stopped but I didn't want the smoke either.

Here's the funny thing. I was able to quit heroin. Can't shake the cigarettes. Though I think it may be because I use my nicotine addiction to replace my heroin addiction. The few times I tried to quit didn't work. I smoke less each time, and lasted longer without amoking each time, but still smoke.kistekop wrote:

I gave up cold turkey about 10 years ago. My motivation was that a 20 pack went from €4.05 up to €4.45, a direct tax that i didnt need to be paying as I saw it and I pay enough of that considering how cheap cigarettes were in other countries.
I stopped suffering with bad sinus as a result. Glad I quit when I did, feel alot better now and a 20 pack cost €9.90.
My advice- find a motivator that will see you through the hardtimes. Good luck. -

An older guy I sometimes fight fires with (he's a sub-contractor so we normally don't work together) took his wife to a hypnosis person because she wanted to quit smoking. I guess it works for some people, but not for others. -
It's hard. But you really do have to want to stop. I was a pack or two a day smoker. Used the patch, was miserable and cranky for sure. Never carried any money at all so I could not break down and buy smokes and everyone I knew was put on pain-of-death to not give me smokes. Took weeks but it worked. Still crave like a maniac when Iam drinking and it's
Been over two years. But I built a cabin and gone to Mexico with the money I've saved! -

This is a great example of truly committing yourself to quitting. Make it as difficult as possible to smoke or acquire cigs at all. Ask your friends and family that smoke to please not give you cigarettes at all for any reason. No matter how much you ask for one. Quitting takes help sometimes. Just figure out what will work for you. As some said they did it cold turkey. But that doesn't work for everyone. It's hard. But you really do have to want to stop. I was a pack or two a day smoker. I been on an e-cig for 4 months give or take. The wife, who has asthma has no issues and my sense of smell is coming back. If you really don't want to quit, you can't bro. It's a hard task that you have to want 100%. The e-cig is a good compromise. You get your nicotine without all the 2nd hand bs. And when your ready you can step down the dose.

Well thank you everyone, I was looking for various opinions on the matter. People will always go different routes for whatever works best for them. My mind is set & I'm dedicated, but at this hypnosis seminar it just felt off. It was 2 hours long with a break after the first hour. The first hour had a lot of knowledge on the way caffeine affects the body and so on, but what got me at the end of the first hour was the sales pitch. "And if you turn to the back of your book. Here you will find the different packages of pills to clean your system starting at $249.99" Then the second hour was the hypnosis part, and I couldn't get outta my head all the people who rushed to the back table to buy all these "detox" pills so quick. I'm not one to get suckered into some scam, and that right there I couldn't take my mind on how real this session was supposed to be.
-
I'll agree with ya if I do try it again I will do a private session. Let me look I think I still have the booklet I got. This company has done this for a long while, but I just felt the focus was the pills. No thanks!!
