So, I jumped into it with the mindset that I'm good at photoshop, so I'll be good at this too.

WRONG BITCH!!!

It has some similarities, but it's a completely different ball game. I've rendered the same video two times already. First it didn't have audio. Then it had audio, and horribly shitty quality. Trying the third one now.

Anyone with experience in this care to help?

I installed it, tried to play around with it for 30min, gave up, uninstalled.

What are you trying to do in after effects? If you are looking for editing, you are in the wrong place. After Effects is what people use for making montages, edits or just some hardcore effects on pictures and videos. It takes some getting used to. Make sure you render the video in at least 720p-fps or 1080p-25fps. Make sure the audio tracks aren't on mute either!

Wait you used photoshop to make videos? Lol.
Photoshop sucks ass at that. Not only that but it stabs the life out of your RAM.

Photoshop sucks ass? I think you must mean paint. It runs just fine for me and I think I only have 6 gigs of RAM. You don't have to have a ton to run it. And no, I don't use it for videos, however, the layout, controls, and filters are all similar to Photoshop.
