Curse words
Forums › General Discussion › Curse words-
It all started back when people believed they could be cursed by witches. That is where the term curse word comes from. Why is cursing still considered bad? Surely people know that spells and curses are all a load of shit by now. I've said fuck you to many people. Was their family plagued by disease? Fuck no!!! Did they get boils on their faces? They sure as hell didn't!!! Did they turn into a hamster, stick their little hamster dicks in the nearest power outlet, and get electrocuted? Hell no they didn't!!! It's all a socially constructed, superficial taboo that was handed down generation to generation.

In relation to you telling people to fuck off... I believe the word you're looking for is cuss as opposed to curse! Just saying😜😜😜

So you're saying you should be able to swear at someone and they should not take offence? Isn't the whole purpose of swearing at someone to cause offence? Or is it you want to cause offence and that they should not react?

I guess cussing is better then burning them or seeing if they float or drown.
-
Wow, this is a great fucking point

Curse it to actually 'call a "curse" on someone' or wish ill onto someone. Cuss(ing) is when one uses words deemed 'socially unacceptable' (fuck, shit etc). Minor differences between curse and cuss, but still differences.
-
If you angrily dismiss someone by saying fuck you, they get more offended than they would if you said screw you, or get out of my face, wouldn't they? Do we still hold a subconscious fear of actually being cursed?

They are used as synonyms in society today by almost everyone. That is a fact, I won't argue that. By actual definition, they are slightly different. This has no relevance to your topic, but whatever lolthe Anarchist wrote:

Am I right in understanding that you are saying because you call someone a shithead instead of poopiehead they should take no more offence. But you are forgetting tone volume and inflection. Calling someone a shithead is usually done loud, with anger and venom incorporated. Calling someone a poopiehead is done as a laugh... Accordingly one causes offence and the other does not.
This is the same as using "Fucking Hell" when you stub your toe or directing it at someone. One is aimed to cause offence the other is a form of exasperation.

Fuck actually comes from the dark ages when resources were low.. You had to have permission to have kids from the king. Due to lack of resources. was called FUCK.. Fornicate under consent of the king

I'm with you 100%. I am and always have been an advocate of using any and all words available, even those considered to be profanity. As far as it seeming uneducated! That's almost an insult. What do the great educated among us scream when they stand on a plug or kick their big toe on the corner of some furniture? Educated or not, I'll bet the majority of people will express their discomfort with a burst of words which will undoubtedly contain the word fuck, at least once.
All that being said, it's always worth bearing in mind that there are many people who are still of closed mind, unwilling to let go of the brainwashing that words can be deemed such a terrible thing.

I don't believe any words are worthy of such stigmas. You only feel the way you do about it because you have been conditioned to think that way. Just the same as I have for not giving two shits about the use of 'profanity'.
Having been brought up in an environment where we were hardened enough not to care about such trivialities of life, I attach no emotion to it. Of course I do respect whatever environment I happen to be in at any given time and how sensitive those around me may be.

Lol, yes, if I swear it is to emphasize, joke around or provoke a reaction. I don't swear in other circumstances. Oh excluding the old stubbed toe or hammer to finger sort of swearing... 😸Hyena wrote:

Some people, such as myself, sound completely idiotic when trying to curse, even in the most curse worthy situations 😓
Others... they sound really fucking good when they curse, like if they didn't, they'd sound idiotic.
And then the average people that curse now and again... Dosent surprise you but dosent really sound right either.
Stupid words -_-

Who remembers this song?
It's a fucked up world
A fucked up place
Everybody's judged by their fucked up face
Fucked up dreams
Fucked up life
A fucked up kid
With a fucked up knife
Fucked up moms
And fucked dads
There's a fucked up a cop
With a fucked up badge
Fucked up job
With fucked up pay
And a fucked up boss
Is a fucked up day
Fucked up press
And fucked up lies
Well, Lethal's in the back
With the fact of the fires
Ain't it a shame that you can't say "Fuck"
Fuck's just a word
And it's all fucked up
Like a fucked up punk
With a fucked up mouth
A nine inch nail
I'll get knocked the fuck out
Fucked up aids
From fucked up sex
Fake ass titties
On a fucked up chest
We're all fucked up
So whatcha wanna do?
With fucked up me
And fucked up you -

Why is one adjective worse than another one? They're both just sounds produced by our vocal chords.
