hayward police shot and killed a close friend of mine rip shawn. what do you all think of police shootings / murders
-
Sorry to hear that man...
It all depends on the situation. IMO in most cases the police shoots for a good reason.
-
An unfortunate ending that could've been avoided if the driver wouldnt've made the decision to try to evade the cops.

I agree with Ronster, the loss of any life is tragic. Unfortunately police are often put in difficult situations and must make hard choices. No one wants to take a life, and they must live with the consequences of these actions for the rest of their lives. Without knowing more of the story it's hard to judge the circumstances of your friends passing. I'm sorry for your loss.Sorry to hear that man...

A quick google threw up a story about a one Arthur Packman, driving erratically, failing to stop etc... Is this the same incident?

Dooder, I'm sorry you lost your friend. RIP Shawn.
Unfortunately you're blaming the police. It was Arthur Packman who killed your friend. Arthur Packman, the driver who drove into the police vehicle and tried to run over a police officer rather than get pinched with a DUI. He's the one who deserves the blame, and he's been charged by police with homicide for your friend's death.

The loss of someone you care about is a tragedy, regardless of the circumstances surrounding it. There are many factors which have lead the result of the nights events. Mr Packman was drunk driving. Your friend Shawn I assume would have know this, did he try to stop him? If so why did he end up in the car? All these elements can't really be dismissed but they're all still a bunch of what ifs and maybes. All in the same way police officers must make calculated risk assessments of each incident. Did his pistol pose more of a threat to the wider public than the 2tonne vehicle driven by a drunk driver?
Forget all of that though👆! Ultimately, you have lost a friend, something which is never an easy thing to deal with. Circumstances of misadventure. It was probably a couple of young lads having a laugh at the expense of the cops, without thinking of the potential consequences. Unfortunately it ended this way.
Lessons will be learned. 😟

I feel for you and your loss, mate. Hope you get plenty of support, and hope you have the strength to support his family as well my friend.
Let me get this straight - the police shot him because another man reversed into their cruiser, and nearly hit an officer? ... sounds like a trigger-happy cop to me 👎

It is easy for you second guess the course of action an officer choices in response to a life threatening situation while you are safely behind your i-device. It is much different to actually respond when you believe your life, or the life of a fellow officer, is on the line.

No cop wants to shoot anyone. The ones that might, They usually get weeded out in the psych portion of the application. No officer wants to be subjected to the scrutiny they will be going through shortly. It turns your life upside down. Police are paid to protect society and catch bad guys, if said bad guys continue to pose a threat of serious bodily injury or death to anyone else, lethal force is justified. Know the facts before you spew nonsense about police.
I feel for the one who lost a friend. I realize you are looking for someone to blame. Just get past the loss first and time will heal.

Are you for real???? You really think cops just want to go around and shoot people???? Do you even have a clue what happens after a police involved shooting??? I was being very sympathetic to you but there is no mass conspiracy. Are there bad cops???? Yes but aren't there bad doctors, bad lawyers, etc. If they are, the investigation will reveal that and they go to prison like every other criminal. If you are afraid of the police then u must have a reason to be.
