New way to collect respect pts

I just applied for a discover card and got accepted for 382 pts and I didn't get the points. Am I doing something wrong or is this new way of getting points a ripoff?
-
If you read the discover offer it says may take up to 60 days.
-
I did read that. But it immediately said my application was accepted. And it says get accepted for a card and get pts. It's mailing me a new card in ten days

It's a finicky process from the sounds of things and I think it's a joke that nick would even allow something like tapjoy on his game where 13 year olds have access to it. A lot of the options are traps one way or the other. The only safe one with the best return seems like the discovery card one. Until I'm desperate for points like a meth head is desperate for another hit I will stick with the video.

Yea ill probably do the video thing. My buddy did the gamefly one and that one worked with him. If they're free trials you can cancel later that'd be the way to go for me

It's a scam. It's not a good thing to get into IMO.

This. The most prominent scam I saw was that it goes from a free trial to a monthly paid app after a month. If your smart than you should be fine. But I always remember that with the Internet a click of a button can make you vulnerable. So I try to stay away from shady shit like that. It's a scam. It's not a good thing to get into IMO.

I usually do too. And in this case ill probably end up staying away. Just analyzing it. Appreciate everyone's opinion.

I think the discovery card is pretty safe. The scam itself is the credit card and propel having it. If your smart with credit cards it's a good bet. I am still debating wether to use that one. I'll wait a while and see what happens to other people lol.

I don't like spending money I don't have. Naturally I got a loan for my car, house, than truck. Other than that I only use cash or debit card(cash). Never had a credit card. Not having a credit card is the ONLY way to be smart with a credit card.

Using a credit card responsibly is super duper hard though when we have no self control though! I need my pals Ben Franklin and Al Hamilton in my pocket, I can't be trusted with a promise to pay later.ʟɛx тooтʜɛʀ™ wrote:

Sorry for the topic hijack, but are you folks seriously discounting credit cards? I get a pair of free flights every six months on one card and 5% off all my gas purchases on another, and I've never spent a cent in interest or fees. It's just like paying in cash, except you have to act like an adult.
-
@khal, while I agree for the most Part witg you, i am Not discounting it. I just prefer to pay before I get something not pay for it later. Just a personal preference. I understand the pros, like needing money in an emergency, the little benefits they give you like you said. Like I said thats why the discover card seems like the safest thing to do for points. Because the catch isn't in signing up. The catch is in being responsible with it. And I remember now that I did have a JC penny credit card once. Used it to get a big purchase half off. I paid it off the next day though.

I don't take out loans for anything; I prefer to pay up front. But I use the shit out of credit cards. AMEX has the balance due every month, so it's almost like cash. But more convenient to pay online. Seriously, try buying something online with cash. It's not easy. Plus, I cashed in my rewards points last december and went on a cruise to the bahamas for free, and got $100 in itunes cards for free music and junk.

I have an AMEX. I have to pay my balance every month. And I easily spend $30k a year on credit. With 3-5% points back on some purchases. And a $75 annual fee for a no-limit card. Also, if someone fraudulently uses your debit card, or you are overcharged by some online retailer, or otherwise scammed, you are usually shit out of luck. With a cc, you get your money back right away. Most cards give you 1-2% cash-back/points. So typically for that 100$ iTunes card, one would have to spend 5,000$ (2%) or 10,000$ (1%). How much do people pay in annual fees and/or interest on their balances? I can tell you it's a bit more than 1-2%.
Sure some of you say you pay off your balance every month (and some of you might) but what percent of people really do? Not worth it IMO.
