Toe jam and earl (sega) or mystical ninja (Snes) are the best sleepover games - my friend and I (RIP) used to play them all night! Great games. But as far as 1-player games go, I'd go with 7th Saga (Snes), final fantasy 3 (US release - Snes), Bubble Bobble (NES), bomber man (NES / Snes), Lolo (NES), MegaMan (NES/Snes) and a bunch of others
