I might be going to DC for a little spring break vacation, are there any MUST do or see things there? Locals and tourists welcome to post.

Isn't that a cold ass spring break destination?

Was there this past summer. My two cents
White House - closed - skip
Abe monument - see (unfortunately the water pond thingys are closed for Reno)
Washington monument - closed for renos, skip (although it is cool to see up close)
Definately make time for the museums - air and space and natural history my two favorites.Georgetown is a MUST see. In many ways I like this area better than DC itself. Nice historic buildings with shopping / eating.
Enjoy!

Go to a few of the Smithsonian Museums. The stuff that they have there you will find nowhere else. I highly suggest it.

Get the walk away insurance if you rent a car. They drive worse than Southern California.

Kick ass

Went there about 3 years ago and it was great. Definently see monuments, White House, Capitol and all those other important buildings and the museums. Hope you have a blast👍

The Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns. Top of every hour at Arlington National Cemetery.
-
Holocaust museum is a must see.
-
Holocaust and spy museums are a must.

The standard tourist destinations are all good but It really depends on what you like to do. I'm a transplant so I can probably give decent advice if you give me a little more to go on.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the museums free? Good way to get back some of your tax dollars!
-
Smithsonians are, but many others aren't. The Spy Museum and Newseum are quite pricey, for example.

Be sure to check out the South East museum of urban blight. It's the best exhibit of abandoned buildings, street thugs and lawlessness this side of Detroit. The museum is free, but donations can be very costly.

My insight. If you're going to be here a few days and you will be riding the metro a few times get yourself a smart trip card instead of a paper pass. It's refillable and it won't cost you an extra dollar each time you get a paper pass.
Also enjoy the sights. Some of the street performers you will see are pretty awesome and talented. I've seen some amazing performers in the city. And no I don't mean the homeless people as performers.
Depending on what you want to do I can give more advice.

The museums are a must see, you will need a lot of time to see all of them. If you like the air and space museum there is another one not to far away in Manasses Virginia that had more than the DC museum. If you call you congressman and set up a tour of the Capitol building through them you will get a free tour guide and skip all the lines and wait time for the tour. I would also recommend riding the metro because the traffic sucks
