Joining the military
Forums › General Discussion › Joining the military-
I'm planning on joining the military, and heard that the Air Force offers a lot of benefits and assistance, so I might join the Air Force. I've talked to my friends and family to hear their opinion about my decision.
I'm still going to make my decision but I want to hear what the TW community have to say.
Please state your opinion and any helpful information about any of the branches of the military. Thank you. -
I'm going army.

Well, either one you choose good luck!

I was AF and had a great time. Worked hard, saw many things, met some great people. Also, loved being around the aircraft on a daily basis. Don't know about the other branches, but AF offered great benefits, training, and experience. Whatever you choose....you only get back what you put in. Still miss it sometimes....🙍

Idk what would be the best but to me marines would seem the 'coolest' but I wouldn't say join one to look cool 😒
-
As a current active duty Marine, I may be a little biased.... join the Marine Corps!
-
AF is the most technologically advanced and has a higher average level of education than the other branches.

Funny shit, I have been shot at in the air though... Best advice, do your research on each branch. Then choose what best fits the future you want to have and what you want out of the military. EVERYONE is bias towards the branch they have the most experience with. Good luck! 👍Army -gets shot at while on ground

I'm army, been Infantry for 7yrs now. I had the pleasure of going to other countries, meeting new people and then shooting them. Either service you choose you get the same benefits, just diff. Living conditions and work environment.

As long as scored above 50 on the ASVAB, are morally eligible (no serious criminal history), have graduated or will graduate from high school, and meet the weight standards, the world is your oyster. All the services will want you.
If you meet the above criteria, you are a service recruiters wet dream. Take your time, talk to all the branches. Do not commit. Consider what you want from the service, travel, adventure, service to country, skill training, cash bonus, college money, good chow, whatever write them down and prioritize them.
Consider taking the DLAB, it is a made up language, that assesses your aptitude for learning a new language.
Go back to each service with your list and see what specific fields they will offer to meet your desires. Don't commit.
Make whichever service you choose put all guarantees and promises in your enlistment contract before you sign. If something is promised but not in the contract it is not gonna happen. Walk away.
Pm me if you have any specific questions.

This the best way I've seen it put. Gather the facts so u can make an educated decision on ur future. It's rediculous how young kids will join a branch of service without doing the research.

Well I was wanting to join the navy for their medical program, and feel like it would be great experience but I don't like drowning...

Yeah, drowning is always a concern in the Navy. It's like the 14th most likely way to die on a ship.Well I was wanting to join the navy for their medical program, and feel like it would be great experience but I don't like drowning...
Better not risk it.
Wait... Are you sure you thought that through carefully? Maybe look at the stats before making a decision.
Don't be bitch.

All I can say is after retiring, I really missed the camaraderie of my fellow soldiers. You get out of it what you put into it.
-
Navy mate see the world, get a career and enjoy it, what what ever you choose you do your country proud
-
Do it. Doesn't matter the branch. you'll learn alot (so i've heard from several family members that were in the service, i was never in myself but i have a brother that's leaving for basic for the Army this coming monday)
