Phys101 or calculus 1
Forums › General Discussion › Phys101 or calculus 1-
Im debating which class to take this summer. Any thoughts from people who have taken these courses. Which one is better fit to take as a condensed class?

Take calc. It helps with physics later. It'll make integration and derivation in physics much easier later

Also, depending on what school your at, they sometimes split calc into three semesters. If you get a jump start on it you'll be ahead of the game and be able to get all your calc done in one year. Physics is usually a one year thing. Someone else correct me if I'm wrong or knows something otherwise.

Well I have to take calc 1 and calc 2. Both are separate classes that last just the one semester. Still, take calc first then. You'll use it in physics. Are you premed or engineering? Or something else?
-
Neither those are both brutal and the shorten summer semester schedule makes it worse

It's half the time. Not two bad I'm taking two classes like that right now with three more classes. Can't be worse than what I'm taking now.Neither those are both brutal and the shorten summer semester schedule makes it worse

Physics 1 isn't bad. Drop a ball, how hard does it hit the table sorta stuff. Physics two, "measure this invisible force field of magnetism and electricity" my professor said. "Use the right hand rule!" He said. I didn't like that class much...
O-chem was where it was at. Prof taught me to make meth from Sudafed. :-)

Yeah. Like apophis said, just get ready to bust your ass. Summer sessions are a pain like that.

Yeah take calculus first. I take calc and phys at the same time and physics sucked til i learned some calculus.

Math isn't bad as long as you're good at it. It's easier than remembering a bunch of facts from a book.

Calc

Calc first. If its college physics (which I assume it is) there's a lot of calc in it, especially in showing how equations were made, and in proofs of concepts.

I have taken both during my freshman year in college and it really doesn't matter which you choose. You won't use much calculus in physics 101 but higher physics courses are mostly calc. Personally I found calculus more challenging than physics.

I'd recommend taking calc I with rest of high schoolers, enjoy your summer after freshman year. Cause only 3 yrs till you have no job offers.
