iPhone cords - recommendations?
Forums › General Discussion › iPhone cords - recommendations?-
Hi there. My iPhone 5 cord decided to die today. Apparently it is a common problem according to the Internet. Oh, and what a surprise? They are a total rip off to replace!
I live in Canada - anyone have any recommendations on where to get a replacement? I'm considering a cheap generic if anyone has some experience with those
Thanks in advance turfers.

Hey Fall! I can give you an freebie if you're in Winnipeg!

I go through power cords like crazy. $20/ each at Best Buy yesterday when I looked lol
-
I always just buy cheap ones at gas station. They work good
-
In my experience the cheap ones last about a month. The only upside to any cheap one I've bought is that thr cord has been longer.

Go to a local hotel, tell them you stayed there last week and think you forgot your phone charger. They pull out a ridiculously large box of phone chargers. Look through it and see if you can find one that matches. I haven't paid or a phone charger in years using this method.

Ebay is your best friend for small electronics. It actually doesn't make sense, I ordered a 800x zoom usb camera microscope for 15$ and got it within 5 days from some factory in China, free shipping. Like what did Jason Stathem personally transport it?

Thanks guys. I read similar things about the generics lasting only a few weeks.
I'll just opt for the $20 authentic one.

Usually go to amazon, but usually if they are under 10 bucks they are fake and won't last as long

Check dx.com.
I order a lot of stuff like that. iPhone cables are cheap ass and work like it should. -
Go to the apple store or your mobile phone carrier (if you ordered yr phone from there) tell them you have a faulty cable and as it is under a year old it is still under manufactures warranty so you want a replacement for free - the only problem being waiting for delivery 👍👍

I have a rocket fish one from Best Buy. Was around 30 bucks but its a reputable brand and I haven't had any problems with it at all.

Lmao! While it is possible this will work, most front desk agents at reputable hotels will ask for your name and what room you stayed in. Depends on management and the competence of the employees of course hahaGo to a local hotel, tell them you stayed there last week and think you forgot your phone charger. Just a funny follow up - went to my local mall, first store was The Source. 30 bucks for cable. Went to telus, 20bucks for same cable.
It never ceases to amaze me that some retailers can charge such a premium for the same product.

I bought a 10ft long iphone 5 charger on eBay and it is one of the best purchases I have ever made. I could not stand the tiny 3ft cord they give you so it was well worth it for the $6 I paid for it!

yeah.

I would suggest buying an adapter with the cord so you can plug the cord into a wall socket. Makes charging easier when your laptops not around 👍
-
I buy from eBay or Amazon. I refuse to spend money on those stupid pieces of crap anymore. At the most I've paid $6. And the savings mean there's no reason to buy Apple's cord when I know it'll be out in a couple months.
