I'm only 14 and have made 2,000$ dollars shoveling snow and mowing lawns for 3 of my neighbors over the course of about 3 years. Believe me, it's worth it and nice to know you worked hard for what you're buying.Get out the ole shovel and clear some snow.

Don't have too much pride. Take a job where you can get it. lol, thanks guys. and about the comment on pride: thanks for the advice. if it seemed like i was prideful (this goes to all), believe me, that was not my intent. i actually suffer with self disconfidence(if thats a word) (hence the "i don't see myself doing well behind the counter".... i've screwed up too many times just in talking with a kid im tutoring).
thanks again

He's just saying whether its flipping burgers or working a cash register, don't be ashamed to work any job. There's no dishonor in any job IMO. At least you're working and contributing to society. Good luck bud 👍oh, lol. i see what you were doing there with the pride comment. its like "mindsets to get a job" and everything there is bulletpointed...... okay....

When I was 12 I was selling bundles of wood ( 100 logs for $150) I had fun doing it.

Funky said it best here screaming. The reason is cause your 16 and just entering the workforce. What you do in your career in the future, most times has nothing to do with your first job or first couple jobs through school. Maybe some of your buddies might laugh cause you go work at McDonald's, but this will not be a permanent job. It will teach you a lot. When you start warning your own money off your first job. It's a really good feeling. You ever think about going to a dealership? I started at a dealership when I was 16, and have been involved within the automotive/insurance industry ever since.

Also check with your school. If I remember right it's called co-op. I'm sure things are different now, but they allowed us to do co-op during our junior and senior year. They allowed me to go to work for half of the school day. For me I loved working at a Chevrolet dealership in school. Driving the new corvettes around, and just the service & body shop departments I worked for had such a relaxed environment. Just some ideas for ya man.

its your first job and your 16 so its not going to be your dream job. make sure your getting paid enough/enough hours to meet your goals/needs and that it fits into your schedule so it doesnt take away too much from the rest of your life.
