So today my bio teacher asks the class what 4 x 4 x 6 is. I use mental math and figure it out in about five seconds. I answered 96 and was the first to answer while everyone was scrambling for a calculator. The girl beside me gives me a judgmental look and goes "psshh whatever" in a not so kind way.
Why are people so selfish and so quick to judge because others are better? Why have we become a society that needs to be on the top of everyone else? What has that person gained by judging me for being better then them?
I'm a sophomore in high school. So was she. I think you need to stop judging and learn some mental math.

It's alright, I get it too. It's the worst when people call me "try hard" and "nerd" just for doing my homework. It also pisses me off when I get made fun of for being in a math class with only upperclassmen. Sorry for trying to put a good life ahead of me?

I am in engineering physics, Calculus, and Chemistry 2. Yeah I have to have a strong mental speed.

Knight. I don't go around pointing it out and shoving it in people's faces that I'm smarter than them and that I work harder than them. It's obvious in the ways they mock you and try to embarrass you. You do sound like one of those people

If you know you are good at working things out mentally why do you need to prove to the rest of the class that you are that fast
If you are comfortable in yr ability and know you'll get the answer right why not let one of the others try to work it out and give their answer
To them, it potentially looks like you are trying to show off and no body likes a show off.
If you stick your head above the parapit expect to get shot at 👍
Sure the teacher already knows you have the ability but don't go about trying to prove it as you'll just make enemies

Everyone wants to be at the top, that is human nature. It can be done one of two ways, work hard or knock down the top guy. I don't know when it became cool to not do homework, and just barely pass classes, but it seems common.
Get through high school, college is a lot better. Knowing what you're talking about is respected and rewarded.

You could quote the fact that Columbia killed a prominent drug dealer Pablo Escobar, or you could twist it to say Columbia assassinated a leader and by doing so, they let loose chaos on the streets which resulted in the lives of hundreds of thousands, this beginning a war on drugs that would burn ghettos to the ground, blow up embassies, an leave the streets covered in the blood of its citizens.
I didn't mean for it to sound like that in the least. I could sit here and argue for myself but I'd rather not simply because I have nothing to prove here and I just don't want to argue. My schedules too busy to let a thread mess with me.
