I've been researching and what you need to know/do to be ready for bootcamp is to do a 3 mile run, pull ups, and crunches. Is there anything else i need to do?
-
Pretty much every work out, and yes lots of running. You'll need high endurance 😬
-
Ha!! There's a hell of a lot more to it than that bro. Read a book called "Making the corps" by Thomas E Ricks. It's a little outdated but is still relevant 👍

Just do your research. It's a tough life style. I've been doing it now going on 7 years, it's hard on the family, you travel a lot and work crazy hours depending on what u do. It's worth it though, but not for everyone. Stay motivated!

Have a bunch of random people just yell at you and learn to stop eyeballing them.

Learn your name.
Not your real name, but the name your drill sergeant calls you. While you can, get some familiarity with puggle sticks.
(The giant qtips.. Can't get one, just use a broomstick or something)
Out of all the things you can do to get on good terms with your drill sergeant, giving him/her bragging rights is definitely one of the best. -
Boot Camp, being tired is never an option
-
In addition to the running, pull ups and sit ups, memorize the 11 general orders before you even set foot in Parris Island or San Diego. You will have a huge head start on alot of the other recruits.

One more thing: don't be first, don't be last, and NEVER volunteer for anything

You want the truth? No matter what you do to prepare for it, you will never be ready... Just go, they will form you into where you need to be. They are experts at their job and will not let you fail as long as you keep putting 110% into it and never give up

No. If you can't hack it you'll get cycled out to a new unit. If you can't hack it then they'll cycle you out until you're flushed away.ℂੌఠ㎜ఠģυÿ wrote:

The marines value guys who think independantly and have a huge set of nuts. If you want to impress your DI tell him, "that may be how the corps does it, but I know a better way."

If you're on a navy ship and have been standing in a line for more than 20 minutes without the line moving, get out of it, we sailors are messing with you. Example: ships store is closed but 4 or 5 sailors are standing in line for it. We're actually waiting for 2 or 3 marines to stand in line behind us, then we walk away. We come back 30 mins later and there are 7 or 8 marines in line... And the store doesn't open for another 4 hours. We can also do this with any random door or closed chow line

Watch Full Metal Jacket. It is VERY realistic showing on becoming a stone cold killer all in the name of Uncle Sam!

To elaborate boot camp did used to be like that. Lee Ermey (the actor the plays the DI) was a real marine corps DI. However it's not like that anymore.Roman_Legionar wrote:
