My dad just got laid off. I think I might punch a lot after I finish my chips

I feel for ya. I have no idea if I have a job teaching this year as my contract ended on December 14th last year. Hopefully your dad has redundancy.

We all have our rainy seasons, mine is now too. My parents are divorcing and my mom tried to commit suicide. I have to go to court tomorrow. Thought I would share that with others who have hard times, we all take it differently, at least you punch codes and it benefits you :P

My dad nearly lost his job, a few months later he got a better one making 3x more then before

I've been there with the layoff. Was unemployed for 11 months when the economy tanked. Wound up getting hired as casino security. Been there for 3 years. In the 11 months I was laid off, it was a struggle. But I pushed through. Your dad will do the same, southpaw. He just needs to be up front with his family. Be prepared to take some cuts. Certain luxuries you've taken for granted may need to be cut. Don't get upset with him though. He will be doing the best he can.

My dad got a offer that would be making about 2.5-3 times as much, but he doesn't like the job to much

I got laid off from the coal mines last year. I went from making $32.00 an hour to an 800 dollar a week unemployment check. Don't worry, money is just paper. At least you still have him around. I hope things get better.
