This is a game I really want and was wondering wether or not when it is properly released as in not early access will it be free?

If you want to play Dota 2 you can get free codes to redeem for it pretty much everywhere- go to reddit.com/r/steamgameswap and find the thread for it (either the top of the page or the side bar, I forget) Though I'd recommend League of Legends over Dota personally, but that's your call.

To be fair I haven't played either so can't really say on which is better but my opinion is biased towards DOTA

No, it isn't, at all. Dota has an awful community, and doesn't punish nearly as easily as LoL does, resulting in far more of a toxic community. Dota is more complex, and far different than LoL in just about every way other than the basic structure of the game (being a MOBA). I have both, have played both a fairly decent amount of time and believe that, while far different and in my opinion, not saying either is superior to one another, LoL is my favorite and more fun too play. Though I think we can both agree HoN is outclassed by both 😜😜
