Turfa - the new primo loco? Help please!
Forums › General Discussion › Turfa - the new primo loco? Help please!-
If you're after a funny thread, this one won't satisfy you. But if you're a mature adult with life experience and you want to help me with some real life problems, please read on.
My fiancé and I have just signed a contract to lease a house. Unfortunately, within 48 hours of signing it, she lost her job (not her fault). My job will not support us both, so one or both of us need to find a decent income ASAP.
My question is this - I have considered buying/selling things on eBay for quite some time. Do any of you have experience in this kind of scheme?
Short of attempting to build up a business of this kind, I think we're screwed.
Please! Somebody smarter than me help out!
Please, if you can help me, PM me. Thankyou in advance
😕Turfa✌

P.S. in regards to this thread's title, my point was that I am stuck in RL and need help out ... just in case anyone missed that 😶

Dude! That's terrible news.
I know a couple of people that sell a lot on eBay. One of them actually makes a living selling vinyl on there. I guess if you know what you're doing then it can be done. Personally (as I have very little knowledge on buying/selling) I don see it as a good idea. Rather just go find employment somewhere.
-
I've bought and sold used auto parts I've pulled from junk yards. Can be decent money, but it's hit or miss. My only real suggestion is have your fiance look for gainful employment ASAP.
-
The problem for us is simply that the area we live in has very few jobs available.
I really appreciate the feedback. Short of mowing lawns or something (which can actually be good money this time of year - maybe i should put my lawn mower to better use), we're kind of snookered ...
Hence -
just make turfa get a job

Was it a part time job I full time cause if it wasn't her fault she can take it to court for unfair dismissal

I have a full time job, but even with multiple good references I haven't been accepted into any other jobs. Like I said, we have few jobs (and many unemployed people with better qualifications). -
Anyway .. It's 12:00am and I have to be up at 5:30 for work. I better go to bed. Cheers all! ✌

Sleep well Turfa. Hope you get sorted soon.

Sleep well Turfa mate. Sorry to hear of this.Everything will work out I'm sure.
I used to sell on Ebay but it involved a lot of work and even having to send off stuff!! Maybe search your cereals for famous lookalikes or the toilet bowl for that matter.... I once squeezed out an Audrey Hepburnesque turd albeit with distorted features.I could never bring myself to sell it though. It sits proudly on our mantelpiece and is a real conversation starter. -
sorry to hear all this. do you aussies get unenployment benifits? my gf lost her job in april. shes colkecting uc and going to school (finally).
-
You think either of your parents could float you a loan for a short time? I know hindsight is 20/20, but I would try to find a place to live based on only one income, in case an emergency like this arises.

Turfa, I recently had a friend go through a similar situation, except he has 2 kids. So his wife started looking for Internet jobs. They live in a small town and work is scarce. She now does medical insurance billing from home. She works for a company in Dallas Texas, but they live in Alaska......
Something to think about.....

Minimize house hold utilities.
1. Don't use your dryer, just hang clothes outside.
2. Use a bike to travel to substitute your car sometimes.
3. Cut 5 min off each shower and/or don't shower everyday. Some stuff my family did last year and we saved several over a thousand dollars over like 5 months.

That's pretty cool. My friend has just started working as a moderator for an Internet bingo site. here's my input. don't be too proud to take a fastfood or other 'lowly' job. money is money, and itll help you stay on your feet until a more permanent job opens up.
-
I am sorry to hear about the job loss. I have never had much luck selling on eBay, but I know a friend who used to make a little bit doing it. I hope she is able to find something soon!
Bus also had a good idea. In the US there are some very reputable companies looking for people to work from home to do customer service, medical billing, bookkeeping, etc
Just watch out for the fakes that want you to pay for classes before putting you to work!
-
Yes, a lot of experience actually. My parents do it for a living and it's really a family business. How exactly were you looking at aquiring the items to sell? I can help you out with quite a bit, if you haven't put out the idea PM me and I'll do my best 👍

That's what I said to her!! She refuses to though. Gotta go to work✌ -
Reminds me of the film "The pursuit of Happyness"

My aunt and uncle buy those storage garage things (I think at auctions? I guess when people stop paying for them) and sell the stuff left inside on ebay. Apparently it's been working out pretty well.
-
My mother collects antique dishes. If she where to sell them all on eBay it would probably sell for around half a million. Also old baseball cards might sell or original comic books.

And sell your cable box. It eats up most of ur electric bill, even when it's off. Hulu is cheaper and better (The tv itself is fine tho)Minimize house hold utilities.
