Hop Through South America?
Forums › General Discussion › Hop Through South America?-
I was debating a hop through South America, to the southern most point if possible. However, I do not see any turf whatsoever past San Jose, Costa Rica. Is it possible to hop past that point? Has anyone ever attempted hopping through South America?

★MΛVΞЯICK★ doesn't have turf there? If anyone did....it would be him. I'm sure he has a turf way down at the bottom. Haha he has hopped everywhere possible. Can't go anywhere without seeing a Mav turf lol
-
I had planned a hop that had a trail that was all clean( no dead zones) that made it into Honduras but then I stopped, so I suppose you could make it.
-
Lol. That's what I was thinking. Hopefully he has some insight into this. Or maybe Swagger or HBK
Sidenote: I found a few turf in Colombia, dropped by local players. Still no sign of a player hopping any where in South America though

Yea, I'm still looking and I'm now seeing turf scattered around, lots in Argentina. I would hate to start this hop and either be cut off in panama or an AP suddenly opens there 😂😂😂Bolivia has turf ,panama ,colOmbia ,peru almost ever country had turf in the big cities.Hoping from the U.S would be expensive. Two problems you might face is a bigger player or players put a choke on panama canal roads. Also it would suck that by the time you get there nick opens up airports.😂

Picasso, I was having the same exact thoughts last week. I think it's possible to at least get to the panama canal, I also saw some turf in Bogota and larger cities like Rio. I think it would be pretty sick to be Capo of Machu Picchu, among other s American cities. If you want to start this let me know and I'll make the journey with you.

No way you're getting through panama to SA no roads for a 40 mile window.
-
Or better....
-
I'd like to join, and may I suggest taking the Pan-American highway? A nearly 30k mile road from the southern tip of SA to Alaska
-
2800 miles from Houston to panama. Just a small hop. Shouldn't take long.
-
54 mile Darien Gap in Panama. Protected rain forest area, no roads.
-
Would've been quite the hop, but I see no point if there's no chance.

Maybe nick can put in a Turf Wars Road to open up the country.54 mile Darien Gap in Panama. Protected rain forest area, no roads.

Yeah I was thinking that. Could work, and after all, not all roads on maps still exist or even exist at all in some cases.sumanitu wrote:

Can't you take the via-panama all the way through? I didn't check it but highways generally are hoppable?

The problem is, if you look along the Panama-Colombia border, there is a Protected National Park with no roads going through it. Miles separate the nearest roads. Can't you take the via-panama all the way through? I didn't check it but highways generally are hoppable?

There might be but I don't see any shown road that extends the major highway that stops dead sole miles from the Panama-Colombia border. There likely is but dirt roads or other small, non-shown roads. So there's no way to drive between two countries that border each other?

I started doing this from Yuma AZ . But stopped . I'm only in Mexico somewhere . I have a long way to go .lol. Think i might continue for the hell of it. Was headed for Medellin . Cocaine capital of the world. Lol .

Yeah so I just checked the turf wars map and can't find any roads whatsoever between panama and Columbia. Further research shows there are literally zero roads connecting north and sound America, and the Pan American highway has a gap at the Darien Gap between Panama and Columbia. Fucking weird. Learn something new every day.

Southern Panama and Colombia have a lot of dead zones. You'd get stucked there.
-
So there is no way to hop to South America and no airports anywhere on the continent. Assuming you can hop into Egypt from Tel Aviv, this leaves S America as the only continent completely isolated from non-local turf warriors.
There you go, TW veteran purists who are anti-airport: South America is your Mecca. Unfortunately, unless you're a cocaine smuggler, you're probably unlikely to get the opportunity to drop some turf south of el Gapo Darién.

Challenge.............worth doing?
-
Might try it after I get to Alaska
-
My family might go to the 2016 olympics in Rio, Brazil. Does that count?
