This has always bugged me.its a single new year we are all headed into.... Yes?
I'd like to hear your take on the subject.

Umm because you're not going to see the same "year" (2102) again. Its "new"not "old" or "same".....soo typically its just new year b

It's actually New Year's possessive. It refers to New Year's Day.
