Forums › General Discussion › I'm writing a book series-
I have been since last September and I have no idea why I decided to bring it up now. Just saying. I just started my fifth book.

Well, it's a pretty long story. But I'll give a brief summary:
It takes place in Montreal, Canada where there is an abandoned castle on a hilltop. Inside the catacombs is an amulet that can grant you immortality. Frank, a hunter the always carries a desert eagle with him, gets a knock on his front door from an old man. When Frank attempts to shoot him, he docent die, saying that he can live forever. The man, named Habbukkuk (I chose a lot of biblical names for my characters) tells Frank about the amulet. Frank knocks Habbukkuk unconscious and heads toward the castle.

Meanwhile, a 15-year old boy with large white wings named Malachi finds the castle and decides to go in, only to get the crap scared out of him by a ghost that haunts the castle named Zackariah. (Zack for short) Zack throws Malachi out of the castle and Malachi breaks in. He meets another ghost named Luke, who is actually a liar, then Luke gets shot and killed by Frank while making himself solid. Habbukkuk finds Frank and slashes Franks arm with his sword I forgot to mention. Zack then apologizes to Malachi and they go to fing the amulet.
I really don't feel like explaining the rest

Sounds cool! Good luck with it!

I will explain the plot of the rest if the books:
After the main villain of books one and two finds the amulet, he takes it it his home world, Minotaur, a world of minotaurs. The minotaurs try to invade earth but are stopped by Frank, habbukkuk, Malachi, Zack, Patrick (a military general with a minigun for an arm) The amulet is destroyed in an explosion. Frank at the end of book 1 gets his hand cut off and replaces it with a sickle. After the minotaurs are stopped everyone goes to Habbukkuk's home world. Habbukkuk was captured by an army of Gargoyles, a group of ruthless killers who are gargoyles. (like those statues you see on buildings) they stop them. Malachi then flys to his home world of Avion but is being hunted by a bounty hunter. Malachi finally escapes and makes it to Avion only to find out it's been taken over by an evil tyrant that killed his 8 year old brother.

Sooooo. Boobs and bacon?
-
Malachi and his friends, Chris and Dante, kill the tyrant. The queen of Avion gives Malachi a quest to find a mysterious chalice. Frank also comes back in this book

For a lot of the books (mostly 3 and 6) I went through a lot of titles. You ever heard of the Pendragon series? They're book names kind of do the same thing. (Ex: The Lost City of Faar, The Never War, Raven Rise)Copywriter here, if i may besides the previous jokes... Your titles are too evident, they divulge the content before even reading the stories. For fantasy you need more subtle titles imo.

I know. So does Patrick. I named him after the person which the character was based on: my friend Frank. (aka muttenhead)Eurocircle wrote:

Did a little revision to the names so that you don't reveal the plot but keep a basic hint. Oh ya and I think Phantoms Pendant is better if you were looking for opinions.Longswamp👊🔨💀 wrote:

Hey, I'm writing a book, too. Mines more of a cliché horror. I've been on and off about it, though.
-
I'm trying to write a book. it's not working out though. I wanted to write a horror as they are my favorite books (I just finished Misery ten minutes ago, I started it 6 in the evening) but I seem to shove as much gore as can, the pace is too fast to get your heart beat rising, there is little or no suspense. I think I'll have to start over.
If you do publish your books let me know. they sound like something I'd like to read :)
-
Very cool, ate. Not my favorite genre, but very, very cool that you're writing anything and are dedicated to it. I've had writer's block for years. That, paired with lack of time & focus has put a huge damper on my writing.
-
Sounds fun. Just blame Nick if subconsciously most of the words in your book end up being 8 characters long :). BTW, the book 3 title is the one that stands out a little weak. Made me think Minotaur No More..gotta say it out loud :). Anyway...good luck.
