A) I don't believe,
B) Mayan text shows the world being flooded by rain spewing from the mouth if a snake. I'm guessing a bad storm over Mexico this year.

if the mayans supposively predicted the end of the world then why couldnt they predict the extinction of the mayan civilization?
I say the Mayans were lazy and decided not to continue past a certain date

It's something designed to scare the gullible. Just like in the year 2000, alot of people were in a panic and the result? a lot of money for the grocery stores. A lot of bottled water was bought. I don't care how long ago you lived or what religion you believed in, it doesn't give you super natural powers to predict the day and time the world is going to come to an end. "where is the proof? It's right here on this paper". It has to be true.

Just incase the world doesn't end, there's always next year!

I do feel sorry for the people waking every morning and believing that the world is going to end soon.

Idiot. The Mayans did not predict the end of the world. Americans did, based on false interpretations of the Mayan calendar. It's something designed to scare the gullible. You are incorrect, we use that because of the Gregorian calendar inaccuracies. Mayans used a different calendar.Ummm guys, the Mayans didn't take into account leap years or daylight savings time. So, according to the Mayan calendar, the world should have ended at least 7 months ago.

And please.... Mayans and daylight savings time??? Really??
Im probably wrong about the date, but to my knowledge daylight savings time was introduced in The late 18's early 1900's, if not later...
Also mayans and leap years dont mix.... Its like paolo says: we use the gregorian calendar, not the mayan, so they had no clue at all what a leap year is/was...
Either way, im getting drunk as fuck fridaynight

And another thing I don't understand about the Calendar is that it's a circle, so shouldn't it go around again?
This is true. So, if somehow the Mayans were correct, the cycle would just continue. Also, there seems to be many Mayan cycles over this one. The world isn't going to just end, that can't just occur. It would take a while, or, if it was going to bed sudden, we'd know. The only threatening things to civilization as we know it presently are: Apophis 2036(asteroid), Yellowstone (super volcano), and nuclear war. But these things won't just happen randomly in a day or two, they take months maybe years to develop or study. Errthing's aight.;)

Guys, think of it this way:
If the Mayans were so good at predicting the future, wouldn't they still be around?
-
Isn't the Mayan calendar a bunch of spinnings wheels that spin at different speeds? And isn't the end of the world based on the assumption that because all of the wheels are all being reset to zero, and since the last time all of the wheels were at zero was their creation day, the entire world would be reset? And wouldn't that basically be like our calendar being reset from Dec. 31 to Jan. 1? Sounds kinda stupid to me.
