I'll get to the point: Please take the time to visit our elders in nursing homes and homes for veterans. These people have been our mothers, fathers, grandfathers, grandmothers, and protectors in time past.
These members of our community have been thrust in these homes and many have been forgotten about this season....So I encourage you to take a few minutes one day this season to brighten up their day.

I work on emergency nurse call systems and every time I work in the veterans hospital I make a new friend and spend a couple hours listening. Very amazing people with very amazing stories.

No doubt...we gotta pay homage to those that came b4 us & thus paved the way for where we are 2day!! Gotta know what the past tells to really be able to move forward in the right direction? Plus older folks always have the best stories!

I've met some amazing elders in my time. I mean a 90 something year old man I chit chat with at Shriner meetings is like the coolest old man ever.
He's an active pilot. He was a Honolulu police officer in the 1940s. He personally witnessed the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was a personal guard to Lyndon Johnson, FDR, Nixon, General MacArthur, various celebrities, etc. He shook hands with Stalin, and Churchill! He was one of the Americans who joined the Royal Air Force to fight the Nazis because the US wasn't at war yet. He literally oozes interesting stories...

I mean he did all this in his 20s! My life seems pretty unimpressive the more I hear about his life.
