For those that don't know, I'm a vendor for Little Debbie snack cakes. As of tomorrow it will have been 3 weeks since Hostess shut it's doors and my work life has been insane. Stores that never had us in them are now calling and asking us to come serve them. Convenience stores that I was already in are taking record numbers in sales and are still cleaned out when I come back a week later. Our bakeries can't keep up with this new volume and we are now getting cuts. On this week last year, we ordered 640 cases of snack cakes. This week we ordered 970 cases.
I have a letter from the president of our company that's addressed to retailers letting them know that us vendors are experiencing cuts and that they're working hard on getting production up. Working 50-60 hours a week right now and this is typically one of my slower times of the year. What's it going to be like when our busy season comes next summer? Aggghhhh!!!

Keep your chin up and get lots of rest if you can. Sounds just crazy. Good thing to have some job security in this crazy economy. Good work! 👍👍

Truth. I'm enjoying it while it lasts. Someone will buy that Hostess product eventually and it'll be back and I'll slow down. Maybe not back all the way to what it was (some people will convert to us during this stretch of time) but it will slow down. Unless we end up buying them. Man that'd be awesome.

Resting more. Sleeping earlier. I have worked a 3-4 Saturdays a month at LensCrafters for the last year since Batel had her surgery. I went in there this week and went back to casual part time, which is once a month.

I was going to get Christmas Tree cakes for some Lenscrafters coworkers this afternoon, then realized I didn't have one single cake on my truck.
