💻 Question for PC Gamers

Should I worry about a graphics card or RAM? I'm mostly a minecraft/ tekkit player and I would like to watch YouTube in HD without buffering. Minecraft is very laggy for me and I would love for it to rum smoothly.
Specs for my HP g7
-4gb RAM
-not sure about graphics but I think it is an on board graphics card
-intel core i3 running at 2.53ghzSorry if I mixed up abbreviations or got some terminology wrong, it's 12:30pm and I'm very tired.
Thanks for any replies/ answers.

I don't remember much about graphics cards and such, but
Minimum requirements to run most games decent these days are2.7-3ghz processor (or better, of course)
And
6-8gb Ram (or better😜)I'm sure others will see this in the noting and fix what I've forgotten so, good luck :P

Depends on your os.. It should be 64gb to be able to use more then 4gb.. Preferably windows 7... But then again if u are running win7 the minimum is 4gb so. Need at least 6 or 8gb.. Buy it now, now that it is cheap... Nevertheless till now it is unrelated to game performance... That is mostly due to the graphics card and the amount of memory that is on there.. U will need one with at least 1gb.. My idea is that he best performing card of about 150dollar is always enough to pkay most of the new games at high res...

Yes, you should have 2x4gb ram, preferably one with a heatsink (corsair vengeance), and a dedicated gpu, most likely either a 6870 or a 7850 if you have some cash to blow. Make sure it's compatible with your mobo as well.
-
For games the speed of your graphics card is more importand the your memory banks however to get the most out of it get the correct speed memory (hint is your max bus speed)..
-
I belive that the graphics card is more important but, you do need enough RAM to play the game also, so get yourself some 2x4 gb RAM for a total of 8gb and a nicer GPU. You can go to pcpartpicker.com and put in your mother board and any parts you want to see if they are compatible.

Wait is this a laptop? Because i thought that most lap tops are not upgradeable in the GPU area (and if they are please tell me cause then i have some upgrading to do) but I know you can upgrade the RAM if you have the right DDR.

Before you downloaded minecraft did you get java? Java can help with the lag.

Let's not forget one important part of the puzzle Internet speeds.... The best hardware in the world will seem sluggish if you have crappy Internet.

Thanks for all the answers. I have 2x2gb ram right now on win7 so i'll try to get 2x4gb. My g7 is a laptop do does anyone know of a good mobile graphics card?

How do you Chang/add ram to a pc, I tried but the case is pretty well sealed. Am I missing something?
I've got an advent descktop btw -

No, I'm actually very much into the scene, I just can't afford the higher end things and only say things I can back up with personal experience. Speedbench benchmarked my previous set of 2x4gbs running at a temp of 60 c, while with sink it runs at roughly 45 c or less (possibly faulty ram but I haven't suicide ran my test rig with it yet so I cannot confirm this.) GPU's are based on price vs preformance on recent benchmarks and based on brand reliability. Never had a bad Corsair product, either. I don't see what you mean.☠🔥TʜɛEƞɢɪƞɛɛя🔥☠ wrote:

And to clarify, I am in no way "drinking the corsair koolaid" or an AMD fanboy, just based on personal preference and previous experience it's what I recommend for someone that's dabbling into the PC Gaming world.Brown🎵Note😲 wrote:

Why do you care at which temperature memory sticks run? What does the heatsink gimmic have to do with performance, ON AN i3 SYSTEM? Bottom line, that is an airflow issue. if you need heatsinks, your case sucks or you live in a subtropical hot box. Memory runs just fine at 115F ambient input without heatsinks if the fans are running properly. Cooler is not faster. Cooler is only an issue when you are exceeding the specs of the system, which he can't. It's an HP.
What does RAM density have to do with performance? Why 2x4gb? Why not 4x2gb? The critical cost/performance question is what is the width/speed of the bus? Are the cores on a separate bus? Slot layout? Form factor? Then suggest memory.
A 3rd party GPU is fine, but 2 chip model numbers are not representative. Memory? Pipeline? Bus? Form factor?
This is an HP branded box. Best to ask HP. They love to be non-standard. :)

Your processor is also kind of bad.
