Read the section on the emancipation proclamation. Have a nice day. -

Sorry, even if that article wasn't a simplified account of a complex series of events and forces, it still doesn't show that he wasn't an abolitionist. He was a practical politician and knew that unless he built the proper climate that abolition would fail. Just because he moved incrementally doesn't stop him from being an abolitionist. And if you are getting your definitive version of history from an AP study guide - you need to read more widely.Thumbs Riley wrote:

If anything, wouldn't AP be a more accurate portrayal? It's regulated by the college board, and is a very respected institution.E=MC(Hammer) wrote:

Don't worry sweetie, it's just razor burn.

The thing is, it didn't matter if he thought that slavery was bad, mainly because he never did anything effective to counter it. An abolitionist was someone who actually spoke against slavery. Frederick Douglas was an abolitionist. Thaddeus Stevens was an abolitionist. Summer was an abolitionist. Lincoln was no abolitionist. He signed the EmPr in a time where he declared marial law, suspended right to habeas corpus, and had the deadliest U.S. war in history on his front yard. Wouldn't you think he would be catching some heat from his party's radicals? And if he had been an abolitionist, why did he never do anything effective against slavery? He could have easily declard slavery illegal when the southern states were recluded into the union. The answer is simply because he was never an abolitionist.

Yes, but it's history written by committee. You're not going to get the complexities and subtleties you'll find by reading more widely. -
You'll have to use cursive in middle school/high school.

"Medicinal" Marijuana
Let me be clear that I have no problem with people self-medicating nor do I disagree with mj as a pain reliever, glaucoma pressure reliever, anti-nausea aid, and sleep aid. The reason medicinal marijuana is one of the biggest lies in our culture is because, at least in Colorado, the average age of Med Mj License holders is 22 and 60% of all prescripts are issued by the same two docs.
At least voters in Washington and Colorado are honest and realistic. Just legalize it already - medicinal marijuana is a scam.

I'm sorry. I must say it 50 times a day, but I can't remember the last time I actually meant it.

That's a little bit of a lie now that I think about it. I sad sorry to someone yesterday, and I really did mean it. Didn't change anything, nor did I expect it to, but at least they now know that I didn't mean to upset them and that everything else I said was the truth.
