Don't believe every word a recruiter says, it needs to be on paper or in ur contract when u sign up. What specifically do u want advice for?
-
Just how best to prepare for basic and what's the asvab like stuff like that or are there specific bases that are possibly better than others I can request for if they have an opening

The recruiter will tell you that every job is the same, but I can tell you from experience that isn't the slightest bit true. You can be a cop and sit in a guard shack for 8 hours a day. Every time I see them, I'm glad I didn't go in as a cop

Take advantage of any training and educational opportunities you can get your hands on. I was army and went to OCS after training.

I leave on Decrmber 18 to Lackland for Basic Training. Not sure if my recruiter ever lied to me or not, because I had my dad go to the meetings with me (he's a captain in the Air Force).
Studying really helps! I took the asvab 3 times. The first I scored 64, the second I scred 62, then the third (after I studied, especially the my worst subjects like mechanics) I got an 80! So studying really does help!
In the way basic training, start running and doing push ups everyday! You need to accomplish 45 push-ups and 50 sit-ups in one minute, and run a 1.5 miles in 11:57 (I still have lots of work to do!).
Also, get prepared for LOTS of waiting when going to MEPS! I've been there twice! The first time, I was there for 6 hours (?), and the second time I was there for about 12 hours....was not happy after that!

Thanks for all the advice guys I really appreciate it

Unless our military has gotten a lot more selective, I can't imagine these are the minimums now. I remember it being something like 30, 30, 15:00. Thanks for your service Scars. Think about what you might want to do when you get out, or if possibly making a career out of the USAF is your plan. That should help direct you. Sitting on an entry post waving in cars for 8 hours sure ain't no fun, but getting hired first on the list in a major city police department because you have experience and military service is a nice plus. So think about what you want to do after and help that steer you now.Joyride 🚗💨 wrote:

Be on good terms with your superiors and minors because you don't want to be the hated one who gets shot buy an enemy and no one wants to help you because you have been a jerk

Exactly what Khal said think about your future talk to someone ahead of time and ask about the program to help pay for college either while your in or afterwards.... When I was in you had to contribute to a plan while you were active duty... Just ask they'll show you the programs.

No...45, 50, 11:57 is the minimum to graduate from basic training...so I have lots to work on before leaving because I can only do 20 push-ups, 33 sit-ups, and 13:20 1.5 miles. The Air Force has been cracking down on PT standards, and is getting more selective. Way nervous about leaving still!Alexei wrote:

I joined the navy to work on engines but they took my wrench and gave me a paint brush. NAVY- Never Again Volunteer Yourself

As I am retired from the Air Force after 21 years. You remind me what it was like when I went off to basic training. My advice to you, keep your head down at basic. Meaning - Do what the Drill Instuctor has you do. Try not to get his or her attention in a bad way. Rememer this. They are trying to get you to think and do things in a military way. The Air Force has given me many opertunities to go many places and see many things. So get out there and enjoy it..Any questions you might have, I will be more then happy to answer. Congrats on Going USAF!

Don't give in to the urge to hit the guy yelling you. If you stick with it, you might get to be that guy. Don't mess with him though, he can make your life hell.
