For the record, Disney doesn't just make family movies. Why would they change what worked for Lucas?

You guys know Disney made the Pirates of the Carribean movies, right? I think they'll do just fine with continuing the Star Wars movies.

Yes, Eric, yes I did. In fact, I said so, 4 days ago. It was quoted, in this thread, twice, on the first page.

One of the new movies should be about the old republic. The epic battles between Jedi and sith that lead to the sith's eradification. But it would be in the form of a flash back

so far i havent read anything official other than the new scripts will be original works not taken from any books/comics from the expanded universe. this frees them to go in new directions with the story and not be bound by a book written 20 years ago. doesnt mean they cant use elements of those stories though. only definite thing ive heard is jj abrams doesnt want to direct which disappointed me. im a big fan of his work and you can tell how big a fan he is from his work. shows like fringe and lost are packed with star wars refrences and relationships between fathers and sons, dark and light dominate his work. hope he changes his mind.

also thought abrams did a good job with the new star trek movie. it was much faster paced than the other trek movies with more action and slow with little action was a common complaint about episode 1 & 2.

I'm sure the next star wars will be fine. Disney owns Miramax and Pulp Fiction was great.

Lucas never wrote any past the current movies. They will not be based on any books or "manuscripts". Most likely they will "follow Luke in his 30's or 40's".
