International Myths (That Most Should Know)
Forums › General Discussion › International Myths (That Most Should Know)-
I've recently been watching shows that talk about aliens, 2012 apocalypse, bigfoot, etc. Well this thread is for people to post popular and not so popular myths and legends. I'd like for you to explain the myth and the history. And if you'd like to comment on a myth, quote it so we know what you're talking about. I'll start us off as soon as I check who just attacked me! See ya!

Slendermen: During WWII German patrols were reporting strange people in the Arden forests in Europe. Nazis reported them as faceless. Nazis also reported being followed and stalked by these people. All sightings of the Slendermen were at night. Today Slenderman is described as a tall man with no face that follows people at night. There is no proof that they exist except for uncommon sightings.

Honey boo boo: A wild pig like beast that lives in large groups. Is commonly sighted in Georgia and can be seen eating shcetty and butta in a large trough. Any research and data is greatly appreciated to the scientific world

No, I've heard myths of multiple. Only in the games do they have one. And actually in the first Slenderman (if this is what you're basing off of) there was a slender "family". I've heard the theories that there are more than 1!Cracker-Jagger wrote:

Oh and guys for my and McCurdles example if you have a problem with a myth, restate it in the way you know the myth. It's nice to see variety!

Eh, I don't care... the person I heard it from is a bullshitter, I was curious if he was right. Never the less they're just myths so a lot of them aren't real...Cracker-Jagger wrote:

Durachu: half dog half wolf like creature that lives in remote sparsely populated areas of Ireland. Rumoured to have died off in the early 1900's. More than likely a complete myth, Irish folklore is full of myth & legend.

Aboriginal people in Australia have a myth similar to the slender man. It's called the tall man. I don't know the whole myth so I won't quote it but I've seen a few stories about them on an indigenous ghost story page on Facebook.
